Fameasser = ?????

Tom_ImpPosted on 06/26/03 at 02:07:06

I was just going through my list of wrestlers and editing them. I noticed the last Billy Gunn I have was when he was partnered with Chuck Palumbo and his finisher was the One and Only. I want to change it back to the Fameasser, but I can't for the life of me figure out what move in the database the Fameasser is closest to.

Can any of you help me out with this one?

Don't know if this move is in the game or not but I remember way back when Gunn just started using the Fameasser and JR called it a rocker dropper. Maybe that helps.

I do have the Rocker Dropper in my move list so I could use that. Only problem is when I went in to edit that move to see what the criteria are for executing it, it didn't seem right.

Well, unless someone else knows of a closer match than the Rocker Dropper I guess I'll use it. Thanks JoeRock.

In regards to the Fameaser, I would suggest the Rocker Dropper.  It is the move closest to it in my opinion.  The Rocker Dropper is a very similar move that was popularized by you guessed the Rockers.  Marty Jannetty for a while used a variation of the Rocker Dropper called the showstopper, and it was near identical to the Fameasser.  Hope that helps.

There is no fitting move in the database. As the others suggested, the Rocker Dropper is close but not the same move.

The Rocker Dropper starts out with the wrestler executing the move twisting the opponent's arm, then laying his right leg on the bent-over opponent's neck and finishing off with the Fameasser.

Thanks guys.   :)

Yah, it's almost the same move - Marty used to twist an arm first or something like that. Of course, the Rocker Dropper was pretty much outlawed in the WWF  because some poor bum broke his neck.

I remember the lawsuit was settled in court at a pretty good hunk of change. The man I believe was paralyzed and sued under the claim that the WWF did not train him well enough to know how to work the move. I recall that was one of the first cases that preluded 'sports entertainment'. I remember being little saying 'what? they rehearse moves?'

I assume the WWF really upgrading their wrestler training after that, not to mention pretty much dropping the entire 'jobber' thing altogether.

Rocker Droppers aren't dangerous.  The guy who broke his neck did so because he took it wrong.  Instead of landing flat on his face, he tried to take it like RVD takes DDTs--he tried to land on the top of his head and then flip over onto his back.  CRUNCH!  It was definitely his fault, but the jury was sympathetic.  So no, this didn't lead to the rocker dropper being banned.

But WWE has seriously cut back on piledrivers because of neck issues.  Undertaker gets to use the Tombstone on special occasions, and I don't know WHY Rikishi was allowed to hit the Rikishi Driver on SD last week.

Actually FH, I was a pretty solid watcher of the WWF back then and I didn't see another 'Rocker Dropper' for several years afterward, honest to god. Marty stopped doing the move. A few years later I saw someone do one out of the blue, and I was like ... wha?
