"Overall" ratings...huh?

Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 06/18/03 at 18:07:02

For Oliver, or anyone else who might have some insight here:

How do TNM's "Overall" ratings work?  I ask because I have Jerry Lynn in the fed that I'm running right now, and his last 7 matches have been 6 tag matches and 1 singles, and he's been on the losing side of all of them.  But when I check the "Overall" ratings, his streak shows as 5, not 0.   ???

Anyone?  Anyone?

Thanks!

.....are there any 6-man tags to be taken into consideration, if not I'm not sure what could be going on.....
UWFWhyteTygerPosted on 06/18/03 at 18:48:54

I think it is giving you his streak alright....his "loosing" streak. It works both ways. Are you sure he lost all of those matches and has he been in any battle royals or anything ?
Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 06/18/03 at 20:02:52

There are definitely some 6-man matches in there.  What does that cause?

No battle royals.

I could be incorrect, but I believe that TNM simply adds up the various stats in the "Overall" section.  So, my guess is that Jerry Lynn has a positive streak in singles and/or regular tag matches, and this is what you're seeing.

I could be wrong, though.

Overall includes singles, tag, and six-man matches (and possibly 8 or 10 man matches but i'm not sure).  I don't think it includes battle royales though.
Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 06/19/03 at 14:59:02

Okay, here we go:

Jerry Lynn has now been on the losing side of 10 in a row.

4 Six-man tags, 4 four-man tags, and 2 singles.  No battle royals.  If whether he was the one taking the fall counts, he was pinned in four of the tag matches.

But in Overall ratings, his streak says 5.  Still no idea where this number comes from.

TNM considers each tag team and 6 man tag team that a wrestler might have participated in seperately.  So the overall rating will take into account each and every tag team he's been a part of, so long as you haven't deleted that team in the circuit database.

So maybe it's something like this?

Jerry Lynn: Streak 0
+
Jerry Lynn & AJ Styles: Streak 0
+
Jerry Lynn & Amazing Red: Streak 0
+
Jerry Lynn & Random jobber #1 from 6 years ago: Streak 1
+
Jerry Lynn & Random jobber #2 from 6 years ago: Streak 1
+
Jerry Lynn, AJ Styles, & Amazing Red: Streak 0
+
Etc

All the old crap in the tag teams and possibly 6 man tags would add up to the streak of 6, I assume, as tag teams are considered as their own entities for rating purposes.  No overall rating for a singles wrestler in tag competition keeping track of their absolute streak is generated, to the best of my knowledge.

I do believe you are correct, Eric. I knew what I wante to say but was unsure exactly how to put it !  :-/
Fighter_HayabusaPosted on 06/19/03 at 17:58:54

Eric, you are exactly right!  Good catch.

I run an American promotion similar to NOAH in that it has tours with very few singles matches except for title bouts at th middle and end.  So JL has tagged in many different combinations, thus the weird streak numbers.

By the way, he won a tag match and ended the losing streak at 10!  I'm so proud.  Then again, he lost the next match, so...

He is around 40 years old, though, so I might retire him.   :'(

Eric, you hit the nail on the head.

Sorry I wasn't here to answer but beta testing TNM 7 Second Edition has been taking up lots of time on all ends (beta testers as well as myself).

Guys, I would have never thought what big a difference a few extra spots in matches can make... Second Edition has more feud-making potential than any prior version of TNM. Heel referees are such a nice thing :-)
Critic_of_the_DawnPosted on 06/20/03 at 00:38:01

Not a problem.  I noticed that streaks seemed out of whack with the Overall ratings a couple years back and made an educated guess based on how the information was presented.  I didn't actually ever bother to make sure it was correct, but it seemed to make sense to me.

Glad to learn that my hypothesis was correct and that I was therefore not making a complete idiot of myself in front of the entire community.  ;)

And don't worry about it, Oliver.  Beta testing good.

Mmm... feud hooks... <Drools>

Those finishes RULE! I would have loved it even more if Danny Davis had disqualified Steamboat for no good reason in the second match, and counted one, two, three... WHERE'S THREE?!? **flips the birds** in the first match.

All the same, no complaints here, I'm hella looking forward to SE and am ready to divulge all my credit card details to get it. Oliver, if you're ever in Westbury-on-Severn, feel free to pop round and I'll buy you a drink for ruling so much. **knows full well you'll never be in Westbury-on-Severm**

By the way, what's with all the Shane Douglas references?

Well in that case, I owe Oliver another drink. My circuit at times becomes one big Shane-Douglas-blowjob. I even veered away from the totally logical move of giving Benoit the title after months of build up in order to turn Douglas face and have him win the title instead at the last minute.
