Starting Again....

Big_WeinerPosted on 06/15/03 at 23:10:45

I've been out of TNM for awhile, but I'm dying to get back into it...

BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW!!!

For those who stopped playing for awhile and then started again, how did you get back into it? Should I create a fed of superstars, should I start with a roster from a REAL fed and play from there?

Give me ideas! This may be helpful to others wanting to get back into it as well.. thanks!

What I did was pick a fed full of people, nice mix of main eventers, mid-carders and jobbers and had all the titles decided on one big show at which I started up all my feuds. I've always found it REALLY difficult to get into a fed at first but once you persist with one, everything starts falling into place.

I just recently started a new circuit a few weeks ago.  I picked my starting roster by simply watching HeAT and Velocity for 2 weeks and declaring that all the wrestlers who appeared on the shows were released by WWE and grabbed by a new promotion under NWA auspices.  I also decided that I would pick up new wrestlers by watching to see who WWE released, plus occasionally bring in a few NWA names if my roster started getting thin.

Doing this, my roster ended up looking like this:

Chris Jericho
The Hurricane
Crash Holly
Rhyno
Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Maven
Shoichi Funaki
Spike Dudley
A-Train
Christopher Nowinski
Johnny Stamboli
Steven Richards
Brian Kendrick
Chris Kanyon
Lance Storm
Rico
Bill DeMott
Chuck Palumbo
Sean O'Haire.

Since I started it, WWE has released trainer Rocky Johnson (The Rock's father), Eric Angle (Kurt's brother), and just recently Jamal.

I'm taking a much slower path with it, running one card a week (to keep the anticipation up and to stay curent with who holds what Title in the NWA) and moving through a 16 man tournament for my Heavyweight Title with one match being held each week.  The 15th week will be my first Supercard, The Crowning, where my Heavyweight Champion will be crowned and the NWA National Heavyweight Champion (Presently Ricky Murdock) will defend his title against a member of my roster.  To keep things interesting, I'm keeping my roster at 30 wrestlers or under.

Feel free to swipe ideas, the roster, the general approach, or nothing at all.  Whatever you do, have fun.

Usually when I leave for awhile and try to come back into it, it takes me 4 or 5 tries.  I'll hire a roster, run a card, and see if ideas start springing up.  If they don't, I delete the circuit and try again.  Eventually, some big angle or angles will click, and the circuit takes off.
