Another Windows XP problem

Tom_ImpPosted on 05/24/03 at 20:14:57

This is my first venture into running TNM on Windows XP, so I'm running into a problem I don't know how to fix.

Currently I have it set to run in a window because when I set it to Full Screen, for some reason only half of the screen has text on it. You know on the bottom where it says TNM7 - Release Build 6? Well that part is in the middle and everything underneath that is a blank blue screen. For some reason everything is scrunched up top.
So, I set it to Window mode and that makes it look more normal, but the window stops about an inch from the bottom of the screen. I can't get the window to fully fill my monitor and I can't figure out how to fix it.

I really would like to get it to look the way it did when I had Windows 98, but I can't figure out how. Can any of you please help?

P.S.  I've tried the whole compatibility thing and that doesn't work either.

I found that I had this problem if I set it to run full screen. I just let it run in a window and then hit alt+enter. it works fine that way.

I read this solution elsewhere as well, but it doesn't work for me. When I do it, it does fill the monitor, but all the text is garbled in some ASCII mess.    ???

here is how I found it to work in a full screen mode and it fill out good.

1) right click on your TNM icon and bring up the Properties

2) go to "Compatibility" tab

3) Under the listing that says "Compatibility Mode" put a chck where it says: " Run this program in compatibility mode for: "

4) check either Windows 95 or Windows 98 / Windows Me

5) CLick on Apply, then OK

6) run TNM7, then once it is up, hit " Alt + Enter " and WHAM! there you go.

hope it helps

Thanks, but that didn't work either. I've tried it without the compatibility feature and with and I still get the garbled text all over the screen.

Sounds to me like your DOS shell is set to display more than 25 lines of text per page. There should be something along the lines of "Lines in console" in the console's properties page. Set it to 25 and that might just help....

Ya know, I thought I knew about computers, but this next statement is gonna show just how computer illiterate I have become. I haven't a clue what you just said or how I'm supposed to do that. Think maybe you can help me out and walk me through this?   :-

Not a problem. I'm working off of Windows 2000, German edition so the wording etc may be slightly different from what I'm typing here.

Anyway, click the Start button, then Programs, Accessories. Inside you should see a button titled "DOS shell" or something to that effect. With the menu open, right-click it and select Properties.

Navigate to the "Layout" tab. There will be a block titled "Window Size" or something to that effect. It has two spin controls attached to text boxed called "Width" and "Height". Width should be 80, height 25.

Maybe that'll help.

That did the trick Oliver, it works perfect now! Now it fills the screen and looks like it did back on my old system.

Thanks a lot, it's much appreciated.   :)
