Error With Backups

BigGwarStuddPosted on 04/08/03 at 03:21:20

When I go to try and make a backup file it says "Bad Command or File Name" in the bottom left hand corner. And when I try to put in a filename and click enter, it says...

"Emergency ! Backup can't be found.

Please e-mail copp@tnm7.com and report this
problem."

What do I need to do to fix this Oliver?

I'm getting the exact same problem. I'm running TNM with Windows XP, if that makes a difference.

Silly question, but neither of you mentioned it: You *DID* run the TNM7Diags, right? :->

Not saying it will deffinately work, but it couldn't hurt

Yep, ran TNM7Diags. Still can't create backups.
BigGwarStuddPosted on 04/10/03 at 21:52:19

Yeah I ran the diagnostics also... and nothing happened. But the weird thing is that I am running WinXP also... but I moved my TNM from one folder to another which shouldn't do anything but after that I had problems.

This is positively strange. Does the BACKUP folder exist within your TNM 7 folder ?
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 04/11/03 at 15:52:03

Yep, it's there all right.
BigGwarStuddPosted on 04/13/03 at 04:54:29

Yeah I have the backup folder there... but it ain't showing me any love.
IBProfanePosted on 04/14/03 at 06:23:37

I actually have the exact same problems...tried all the stuff suggested...same results. Even installed a new copy of TNM...same thing. I am running it under XP. This is really bizarre...

Howdy folks, new to the forum, but I've been using TNM since um...6.2, I think.

Anyhow, I'm thinking of registering 7, but I'm running into this same problem. I'm running 2kpro, and while it's not a big deal to make my own backup, it'd be nice if I could get this feature to work and save me the trouble of just copying the directory somewhere else.

Anyone get this solved?
Oliver CoppPosted on 04/24/03 at 18:26:27

I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. Please bear with me.
Oliver CoppPosted on 04/24/03 at 18:39:16

It was an issue with the DOS shell in Win2K and XP. In some instances, there isn't enough memory left to shell out to DOS internally when calling PKZIP or another packer.

Build 6d, which is available now from Downloads, takes care of the issue.

Thanks !

Cheers, Oliver. The problem is sorted now.

NICE! Fixed...thanks Oliver...this is a big help...
