Big export problem (Oliver, please read)

Tom_ImpPosted on 03/06/03 at 21:44:21

Hi Oliver. I downloaded that new All Wrestlers Export File as of Feb 2003 file to completely update my database before installing all the TNM UK exports and there is something majorly wrong with it.

First, it crashed halfway through install so I closed the program and restarted. Then I ran the Diagnostic program to detect and fix any errors and the whole database seems to be screwed up. The page scrolled for a good 30-60 seconds of error after error after error. Then when I tried to go back in to try and import it again, it crashes TNM everytime. Now I'm going to have to completely re-install everything.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this. Either no one has tried to install that export, or something is wrong on my end. Either way, can you look into this Oliver and possibly fix it? Thanks.

P.S.  I chose to add and overwrite all the wrestlers so I didn't spend a ton of time being asked about every wrestler. Not sure if that info helps, but I thought I'd supply it just in case.

Okay, I tried something different and it got a little further, but it still crashes during install.

This time when installing TNM, I installed all the wrestlers so it wasn't a "shock" to the program when trying to import that whole file. It still crashed at this point:
Generating New Databases
Error 7 at pgm-ctr: 224493

Also, now when I run the Diagnostics after the crash, I don't get tons of errors. Apparantly it's getting closer to working, but there still seems to be some kind of major problem. Hopefully you can fix it so I can get TNM up and running again soon. Thanks Oliver.

Error 7s are an 'out of memory' error.  Your computer can't handle the entire export being added.  Which isn't surprising because as large as the full official TNM database is these days (1500 or so wrestlers), the recommended max is about 800 to 1200 depending on your computer...

Okay, then I guess the thing I have to do is download every update available at TNM7.com after Build 6 was released and import them seperately. Only problem is they don't have dates so there is no way to tell which came after that build. I don't want to import files that are older than what I originally installed.

Any way you or Oliver can point me in the right direction and let me know which export files are all the ones after Build 6? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Even if it makes me come off as clueless, there isn't much I can do here aside from asking you to please ZIP up your TNM 7 and mail it to me... it'll be a b!tch to repair but I'll do it.

That particular export file hasn't run through my hands until right now that you brought it up.

Actually that won't be necessary now Oliver. I apparantly found a way around it to make it work. That's not to say it shouldn't be looked into and maybe broken down into 2 or 3 separate files since apparantly one file is too much for TNM to handle all at once.

All I did was instead of saying yes to importing and overwriting every wrestler, I picked and chose the ones I wanted to update and the ones I wanted to add. I guess that way TNM could handle the workload so to speak.

Thanks anyway for the offer, but it looks like I won't need it afterall.

You are absolutely right, Tom. It'll be best to break down that one export file into three.

Cool because let me tell you it was a royal pain in the a$$ having to saying yes or no to every single wrestler.   :P
