Changing Delay to high number

BlueStarPosted on 02/11/03 at 08:38:29

Hi Oliver and others,

I've recently installed TNM7 on my PIII with 512 MB of RAM. I tried putting the delay on the highest possible number, yet I'm unable to type in anything above 999 (I believe). This means the program runs too quickly.

Is there any other way, perhaps through the registry to change the delay to a higher value?

Thanks in advance,
RG

Open the file TNM.CNF (in your main TNM 7 folder) with Notepad.

Then look for a line which looks like this:

DelayBetweenMoves=250

The number on the right of the equation is what you're looking for. Save and exit, and you're on.

I had this problem too with Build 6, but if you installed the update to Build 6b it allowed you to enter any number you want.

On a side note, I've noticed that the delay number usually is somewhere in the vicinity of twice your CPU MHz speed. Was this desigined this way Oliver or is it just a coincidence?

Nope, that never was the intention but apparently it's working out that way for some people :-)

Then again, some like their lines to come R-E-A-L-L-Y slow while others want them coming at a lucha pace *g*

Oh, and BTW - I will address this issue in form of a replaced EXE for CARD.EXE, which will expand the four-digit value you can enter here to a six-digit value which should be sufficient for the next few generations of CPUs ;-)

I used to know where to find it on the old TNM site, but when I looked now I can't find it anywhere myself. It used to go by the file name TNMAGNT.EXE. Not sure if it's the same.

Bluestar, if you are a registered user just click on the registered users area on the TNM7.COM site. It will take you back to the old site. and in the downloads section of that site is the TNM updater, It will update your TNM to 6b.
