Do your rankings surprise you?

For all of you with long running circuits, do your rankings surprise you?
I sometimes take a look and notice I had a midcarder on a real streak and needed to move up the card.  I also notice a guy who I thought was a main eventer didn't really win much.
I suppose it matters more if you run unbooked, which I do most of the time.
Or don't the rankings matter to you at all?

Rankings are cosmetic for me.  It's cool to see a great win-loss record, but much like in "real" pro-wrestling, winning and losing doesn't necessarily make a main eventer.  Someone like Chris Jericho usually has a terrible win-loss record, but he's always top of the card.

I'll take a look at them if I'm bored or something, but they really have no factor in if I push a guy or not or give a guy a title shot. Of course, I book all of my matches, so that would be the main reason since I already know who I consider "jobbable" and not.

I use them only to set the seeds for my annual King of the Ring tournament in my WWE circuit ... other than that, only check them if I am curious. Yeah, sometimes I see someone who needs a push, but its usually someone who has been losing lately and I want to bring them up a bit

Don't use rankings.  It gets screwed up anyway if I have to book matches or do any resims.

I do use the rankings because I want the apperance of competition. I run unbooked, and this Pay Per View (which will be next Sunday) I have Buh Buh Ray Dudley as the #1 ranked oponent to Shawn Michaels WECW title. So in this case, rankings matter to me a lot.

I run unbooked as well. But I wish I knew how to properly weigh the rankings. If the #20 ranked wrestler defeats the #5 ranked wrestler, then it should be worth more than vice-versa

A loooooooooooong time ago I ran across an Excel app that would do that. Higher ranked teams were worth more than lower ranked teams when it came to wins/losses (It was originally for basketball, but being in Excel, it was easilly mod-able)

This was circa 2001, so I have NO idea where to find it now :-/

I often look to the rankings for TV Title shots.  Find the top-ranked person who isn't otherwise involved in an angle and give them the shot, often unbooked.

Just to sway from the subject, did you catch the Exel 2010 beta download? I have it and it helps out a lot with my NWL league on the 3:16 boards.

I don't use the default ratings when I choose my contenders, I just use the +/- point system from the Weight Class Wizard plugin to decide who my contenders will be
