Oliver?

UnrightPosted on 05/16/10 at 00:42:42

Old computer exploded.. got new computer.. :-/

Re-downloaded TNM to get back into things.. The "have codes re-sent" button on the website doesn't seem to work. And I've had no luck getting in contact with Oliver through 3 different e-mails I've found..

Is anyone in contact with him?
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 05/16/10 at 01:15:27

No...Which is another thing...If Oliver is done with TNM, he needs to just make an announcement and be done with it. Or sell the rights to someone else so continual improvements can be made.
UnrightPosted on 05/16/10 at 03:34:33

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind after the trial expired and I still hadn't heard back from him. I doubt there's many purchases still being made and he's said that he's not planning to do any more versions..

TNM needs to become freeware...
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 05/16/10 at 04:23:57

Yeah, freeware or he should sell the rights to Adam Ryland. Yes, the TEW guy. He doesn't have other things to deal with, he's a software developer only.

Of course, Oliver might be ready to surprise us but he always insists wrestling simulators are a fringe market. I don't buy that. If it's a fringe market, you need to find a way to make it so it's not.
jeff the god of biscuitsPosted on 05/16/10 at 05:58:08

Maybe not sell the rights to the TEW guy, because he would probably not do anything with it and continue to focus on TEW ...

but selling the rights to TNM would be a wise move on Oliver's part, unless he does plan on doing something more with the sim ... which seems unlikely ...

Unright, you can find Oliver on facebook pretty often ... I usually see a post from him once or twice a day ... I would be willing to pass along a message for you if needed ...

I think Adam could definitely find a way to integrate TNM functionality (play by play) into TEW. The only reason I like TEW is the game world and contracts. If TNM had something like that, I don't think I'd ever play TEW.
jeff the god of biscuitsPosted on 05/16/10 at 17:16:23

I would still rather see someone who would put out TNM 8 than just integrate TNM into something else ... if I had the technical prowess I would have made the offer to Oliver a year ago ...
The TNM Members ChampPosted on 05/16/10 at 18:18:49

I would hope TNM 8 would be a better version of TEW actually. We need more than the sim for a new version, we need business aspects and game world simulation.

This is my first go with TNM7, and I love the heck out of it. I too wish that either an updated version be made or sell the rights to another company. With all due respect. something needs to be done.
JoshiQPosted on 05/16/10 at 19:22:04

I, personally, don't think anything needs to be done with TNM. The only limits TNM has is the creativity of the mind. Sure, maybe a couple of different matches or something would be nice, but this is the only game that I have played for 10-12 years.

It would be kind of fun to have maybe some financials involved, but I also don't think I'd end up using them much. I don't think Oliver needs to sell TNM to somebody else. It's his baby, and if I were him, I wouldn't sell off the rights to it.

TNM will probably be the only wrestling simulator I ever play for longer than a month because it allows me the capability to do anything and everything I want. But the main thing I use it for is to keep results archived, to give me the challenge of injuries, quitting wrestlers, and basically just keep an outline of my circuit.

I agree, the basics of TNM aren't broken. I just think there needs to be some upgrades made, specifically as you mentioned financials and a simulated game world environment with contracts.
rey619Posted on 05/16/10 at 22:12:29

Isn't UFC made illegal in Germany now? Maybe Oliver will have more time for TNM then? I for one am real happy I've kept all my codes from way back.

As for improvements, I could probably come up with at least half a dozen improvements to the booking structure, but I am happy with what we have now. Just too bad if new or old users cannot get their codes resent.
JoshiQPosted on 05/16/10 at 22:20:26

Like Jeff said, I could send Oliver a Facebook message if you want if you still need your codes, Unright.

TNM needs to become freeware...
or at least become a FOSS so that others can contribute to it's improvement.

an updated version of tweakcirc would be nice, like a feature in tweakcirc to override to default strict pushes thing on a circuit by circuit basis if you are running a circuit like WWE for example as well as a AJPW circuit, you would have to keep going back to the options menu and changing the strict pushes option every time you switch circuits to run cards, which can be very annoying and frustrating after a while. Also an option when chosing wrestlers to hire, the actual ability to change the name of a wrestler's finishing move, if not the whole move altogether would be a nice feature, not sure if it would be possible though.

I had not heard of this but it appears to be true.

However, the articles I found refers to all the UFC shows that would normally be on Spike TV in the US being banned but doesn't mention PPVs.  Also, I'm not sure if Oliver was only doing German commentary for UFC or for other MMA groups like K-1 as well.
