Royal Rumble in your feds

crazyarbyPosted on 07/04/09 at 05:13:40

I suspect most do a Royal Rumble type PPV.  THe problem I have is the jobber getting number twenty-nine and winning the title shot.  So, instead of putting the winner in the main event at the big PPV I made it money-in-the-bank title shot so I can have a squash match on the weekly show or have the guy lose the title shot to someone I would want to see in a PPV.

question one:  Do you give title shots out with Rumbles or other special matches that take place every year?
(Me I have a ten man cage battle Royal, a random partner tag tourny with the winners getting a threeway with the champ @ the next PPV.)

question B:  Has the real Royal Rumble lost it's luster with the obvious booking for the WM main event?

Question 3:  How would you book the Royal Rumble?  Keep the title shot @ WM ,  MITB it, or give no shot for winning?

Have a happy 4th you crazy JimmiC wannabes  ;D

I've really gone overboard with the royal rumble gimmick. I've been running this epic chronological circuit for months now. It started in 1945 and I didn't have a large enough roster until April 1950 when Waldo Von Erich won the first "royal rumble" and earned a title shot that he won against El Santo the next month.

I eventually moved the Royal Rumble to December with the title shot being held in January. From the sixities to the early 80s I also ran random trio and tag tournaments. When the roster got way too big for this I changed them from random tournaments to um non-random tournaments and initiated several tournaments and royal rumbles for every belt, world, us and ic.

The end of year schedule looks like this for 1997:
September: Six man tournament with about 75 teams, MMA tournament with about 20 participants, Junior Tag Tournament with 35 teams.
October: Tag tournament with 150 teams, Super Heavy weight tournament with 57 participants, the hardcore invitational tournament with about 100 participants.
November: Junior Heavyweight tournament with over 300 participants and a Heavyweight Tournament with over 300 participants as well.
December: Those who fared well in the tournaments are placed into the Young Lion, TV, Intercontinental, US, NWA, and World divisions. Everybody in the division minus the champ is put in a royal rumble with the winner facing the champ at the end of the show. After the royal rumbles the winners of the 6man, jr. tag, tag, mma, jr heavy, heavy, and super heavy tournaments face the champs.

Typing all this out really makes me realize how obsessive I've become and also how awesome my circuit is. :)

I do a Royal Rumble in January with my WWE Circuit ... winner gets the title match at Wrestlemania ... I usually book the Rumble to have random entries (so yeah, a low card guy comes in late and rules), but I also book the winner of the Rumble as well ... I usually pick four to six guys I would like to push to WM, (although this year, it was only two) ... I also use the Rumble to help me choose which young (or low card) guys I want to push ... Harry Smith (David Hart Smith) was in the final four of my '07 Rumble, so after that, I pushed him to a couple of tag title runs with his cousin Teddy Hart, and now he is my US Champ and this year's King of the Ring ... so it works out really well for me

I do similar to what Jeff does.  I book the winner/possible winners, and then kind of let it play out.  If it goes 4 hours or a jobber eliminates 12 guys, I will restart it until I get something suitable.  I will also make a few edits to the results to work angles, etc.
