Unexpected stars

Snabbit888Posted on 04/15/09 at 01:29:34

I'm sure it's a topic we've covered before, but it's been awhile since we discussed it so hey, new circuits have been run since then.

Who are some wrestlers who ended up being main eventers in your circuit who when you first brought them in, you had no thought that they'd be big stars?

I would have to say Mr Wrestling in my Big South circuit. He has been a fan favorite since day one.

It's been a little while, but most recently Al Snow (who I've always loved, but hadn't intended to be in the main event scene originally)

Well, I book everything clear of plugin matches for obvious reasons, but back when I was only simming matches the biggest example of that would have been Edge. But that was back when Edge was a Brood member. At that time I had no intention of making him a main event player, but the damn fucker kept winning his matches, so I had no other choice.

I tend to only book certain angles, and let the rest of the matches go however they go (which in turn led to some unexpected feuds due to runins).

Anyway, I had Stevie Richards in the Pre-bWo era as a jobber. He started winning about half his matches, and they were consistently 4-star or higher.

So fast forward a "year" and he was my TV Champ (which had weekly title defenses ALL UNBOOKED) and held the record for the title reign (5 months or so).

I think that qualifies ;->

In one circuit Chris Masters and The Big Show have been trading the top belt back and forth.

Since the breakup of LAX, Hernandez has been much more successful than I could have possibly imagined him being.

In an indy fed, a makeshift team of Jeff Gaylord & Polvo De Estrellas totally dominated all comers. Probably would have continued, but Jeff didn't renew his contract.

I'd say Zedja's reign in TNMWA was pretty unexpected.

I expected it *counts the money he got from Jake... Now you know why his orders never arrived ;->*

Does Billy Gunn winning the WWF World Title from The Rock count?  What if he then went on to beat Bret Hart, Steve Austin, and then The Undertaker in a casket match in my attempts to destroy him?

He eventually lost it to Chris Candido on an episode of RAW. :O

I'd say Test in my Mapleleaf Wrestling having a 4* match was completely unexpected

Who was his opponent?
PulsarPosted on 05/03/09 at 22:22:59

A Canadian? LOL, I can't even remember... it's possible to have been Petey Williams. Carlzilla, do you remember?
CarlzillaPosted on 05/04/09 at 03:36:55

I remember the surprise, but I don't remember the opponent.
