Can TNM7 and its plugins run in Linux?

I'm wondering if I try installing Linux on a Virtual PC if that would help in running TNM7 since I'm currently stuck with Vista64 (TNM runs but I'm tired of use band-aids).

For example, possibly using it with this linux program:

It may run in linux using wine, but I can't gaurantee that.

I'm not sure what the best way to go about your situation is really, you could always aquire a copy of Windows XP.

I'm going to try it out. As far as XP, I don't really think its fair that I have to go spend $100 on something Microsoft should've just added to Vista to allow for backwards compatability with 16bits.

I don't either, hence the subtle use of the word aquire as opposed to buy.

You could look into a virtual machine running xp from your vista desktop.

google VirtualPC 2007 it's free, but you'll have to have your own OS to install...maybe borrow someones XP if you can.

It's not a Vista problem, it's a 64bit problem:

*NO* Windows 64bit OS has ever supported 16bit apps (This goes back to NT 64bit, includes XP 64bit, and will continue with Win7 64bit)

I have, in the past, tried TNM with both VMWare in Linux and Windows as well as Virtual PC (which is free, now) in Windows, and have had... Mixed results, at best.

Wine will probably NOT work, since TNM is a Dos app, not a Windows app (As the name states: Wine Is Not an Emulator. It just redirects Windows calls to X calls). The whole reason I ended up using DosBox for TNM in 64bit Windows was because I used it in Linux :-P

(We should start a petition to get Oliver to compile TNM as a 32bit app!)

Of course, you could dig up a copy of Win9x, install it on a memory stick, and boot it to run TNM ;->
