Longest reigning champion?

Snabbit888Posted on 05/28/08 at 03:01:49

What is the longest title reign you've ever had someone in a circuit have?

For me, it's Monty Brown's North American Title reign which was one week under a year, though Brock Lesnar's GCW World Title reign is about to eclipse that.

I do one card per week, + PPVs every four months.

My longest main title was six and a half months. (Bret Hart, pre-WCW days)

More impressive was my longest TV title (Defended every card, always in a gimmick match)... four and a half months. (Finlay.... Who won the title as a no-show replacement)

I run my circuits in real time, which means for my WWE circuit I run one card a week per brand (I use only Raw & Smackdown) plus one either brand specific PPV or a joint PPV a month.

At Summerslam '06, Kane defeated Rey Mysterio for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. He held onto the belt until Survivor Series '07 (yep 15 months) where he was defeated by David Flair for the belt. In that 15 months, his only other loss was countout loss defending the belt against D. Flair (Money in the Bank '07) at the Great American Bash '07. One month after losing the belt, he got it back, and hasn't lost since. So I guess he has been the champ for the better part of 2 years now.

PS -- All of this is unbooked by the way. I hardly ever book title matches, and if I do, its almost always booked for the champion to win due to some interference. However, Kane's entire reign (the first one) was 100% unbooked. It became a challenge for me to see who could finally beat Kane to take the belt from him.

It took david flair to finally do it... I'm lucky if my title reigns are longer than 7 cards

Edge - 456 days

Oh, and the Can-Am Express held my tag straps for nearly 5 months.

All these happened over the span of five or six game years... Not like they all went on title-holding sprees at the same time ;->

I really have no idea.. I used to go unbooked before, so title changes were quite frequent. I gave the champ an extra advantage by giving him an extra 5 points in push, which prolonged his title reign by some.

I guess it must be Low-Ki, who has been champ in MWA for eight months. Granted, MWA doesn't hold shows all that often.

None of my cards were booked, which is why my TV Title reign was so impressive (The tag and main titles were defended at PPVs and occasionally during the normal shows, so... Maybe 1/3 the amount of times as the TV Title)

Billy Kidman once held the DWF cruiserweight title for 482 days - that's sixteen months, apparently giving me the win.  8)

Other notable reigns have seen Curt Hennig and Owen Hart hold the tag titles for 433 days, Jerry Lynn hold the world title for 391 days and to the point up to where I've posted on the boards (I'm two months ahead where I've posted, so I shan't give anything away to both of you who read it), Steve Corino has held the television title for 330 days.

But then I book everything, so I can do everything as long as I like.

100 days in.

Batista [WWE Smackdown] World Heavyweight Title - 100 days
Italian-Americans (Sal Rinauro/Tony Mamaluke) [Ring of Honor] Tag Team Titles - 100 days

Running unbooked (which I almost always do, as I like the challenge) Rob Van Dam once held the PWM Heavyweight Title for nine months.

I have a clone of JBL that i've given a Goldbergian winstreak. Held the title for over 200 cards thus far.

If you mean primary title than: Vader held my WCW title for 9 months

If you mean any other titles: my longest reigning champion ever was the tag team of Aj Styles and Lance Storm who held my NWA-TNA (back then they were still NWA-TNA) tag titles from card 1 up until after their contracts were both up for renewal
