Strangest circuits

JeepGuyPosted on 01/22/08 at 23:04:16

What are some of the strangest/craziest ideas for a circuits you've run or thought about running?

To kick things off, I thought about two strange ones - one is sort of a reality show using Madman Pondo and "girlfriend" Bridget the Midget and the promotion they are in charge of. Lots of goofy and politically incorrect stuff.

The second one is Jack Knows Wrestling. The Jack in the Box near where I work has televisions and its own "programming". What if they produced a wrestling show?

I had an idea for a wrestling circuit featuring religious and mythological figures from around the world.  I've yet to run it, but I've made a bunch of exports for it.
ScottPosted on 01/23/08 at 01:09:58

I once ran a circuit based solely on wrestlecrap. All bad gimmicks, and storylines. (it was almost like TNA) Oh, and the fact that Jim Powers held the record for both the longest and most World title reigns spoke volumes.

Did you have Monsignor Eddie Gay do battle with Dr. Tom Jack in a 2/3 falls match to decide the existence of God?
Hello MamushiPosted on 01/25/08 at 05:31:46

hahaha

no, but I wanted to run an angle where Jesus had a big stable with all his apostles and then Judas made a HUGE turn and aligned himself with Satan and his stable consisting of his various classic officers of hell.

also, I wanted to run an angle where Buddha and God teamed up, and God always got mad because Buddha was a pacifist, but then Buddha totally saves his ass using his pacifism and God becomes a Buddhist.  :D

I had a short lived circuit set in the Wild Wild West. It was called Dodge City Wrestling, and featured Austin Starr as a US Marshall, Human Tornado as a black piano player, Sandman as the town drunk, Necro Butcher as a butcher and Homicide as a dangerous mexican desperado. I think the two cards I ran are still available in the circuit forum.

haha, i think i remember that.  :)

that was amusing.  you should totally revive that.  :D

have a group of bad guys roll into town... have the local good guy put together a posse that the sheriff says he can't do because he is the law.  There is really a lot one could do with "wild west" storylines.

And then everyone can make nice, sing some songs and paint a wagon.
Hello MamushiPosted on 01/25/08 at 22:54:28

here's a thought.  it'd be interesting to take the fictional characters from old wrestling console and arcade games (like all the old various NES games, and Saturday Night Slam masters, Blazing Tornado, etc) and run a circuit with a database of all those characters.

Who is doing the exports?
ScottPosted on 01/25/08 at 23:34:07

Some of the Saturday Night Slam Masters wrestlers are available at the original TNM7 site (with the exports)! They are in TNM 6.2 though
VertigoPosted on 01/25/08 at 23:59:14

King Slender. Amazon. So many good wrestlers could be a part of this.

I've thought of it, just don't think I would have a lot of fun with it.

I did about 4 shows of a Kinnukiman (M.U.S.C.L.E.) fed so many years back.

American Tag Team Wrestling for Amiga
Rick GarrardPosted on 01/26/08 at 03:11:15

You forgot the Bop'N'Wrestle later called Rock'N'Wrestle crew as well as the Epyx Championship Wrestling game characters. Good to see the Data East debacle called Tag Team Pro Wrestling made the list already. :)

Bop'N'Wrestle/Rock'N'Wrestle/Rock'N'Lucha character names from the actual game box: http://www.mobygames.com/game/bopn-wrestle/cover-art/gameCoverId,46775/

May want to use this as a source for more wrestling games:  http://www.mobygames.com/genre/sheet/wrestling/

Oh, I totally agree. Storylines, angles, characters... it's almost an endless supply of cliched characters, which are really good in a wrestling circuit.
JeepGuyPosted on 01/28/08 at 19:26:36

Well, I've started doing a new circuit in Alternative Wrestling Entertainment, which by my preliminary notes should be highly strange. Wrestling on the Oxygen channel should be strange enough but with the roster and a whole host of weird angles and political incorrectness, it should make for a good read (hopefully).
ScottPosted on 01/30/08 at 04:14:45

There was also a little known game called Takedown that came out around 1988 or 1989. There was also Sgt. Slaughter's Mat Wars. It came out not long before his 1991 WWF run. Also there was an early WWF game called Microleague WWF Wrestling. It was Text Driven with digitized video graphics (actually good graphics considering it was a Commodore 64 game) You just pick the move and the computer would decide if the move was successful or if it was blocked. The game only came with one match: Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, and you had to buy seperate disks to get other matches. There were only expansion disks, and all in all it had five matches in total: Hogan vs. Savage, Jim Duggan vs. Harley Race, Jake Roberts vs. Rick Rude, Honky Ton Man vs. Randy Savage, and Hogan vs. DiBiase. It was basically a turn based game.

But anyway: Takedown was a wrestling game available for various computers including the C64, and early Dos Based IBM and Compatibles. To get an idea of some of the characters in the game, here is some screenshots:

For the record, side 2 of MicroLeague Wrestling was Hogan vs Orndorff, IIRC (Yes, I had the game ;->)

I never had side two: It was a bootlegged copy, LOL.

Yo ho yo ho ... the pirate's life for you.

I had a Commodore 64 but passed on MicroLeague Wrestling. Now that I hear what it was like, I'm glad I did.
pszPosted on 01/31/08 at 02:31:28

It was actually not too bad... Think WLS "Very Lite" with scanned photo graphics (good for the time, as said)

Both people would pick a move and, based on energy/heat/whatever that bar was, and the difficulty of the move (There were like 5 sets ranging from punches in the Easy section to Hogan's Leg Drop in the hardest one), it would decide who would succeed.

Good idea, they just never went anywhere with it.
