zipping up TNM?

agentkolbPosted on 01/31/08 at 15:07:07

Ok so heres my dilemma. I have a registered version of TNM and my PC is dieing. I want to zip up my TNM folder and move it to my laptop... run my circuit for a while and once I get my old PC fixed and returned, zip it up and move it back.

I have zipped it up and tested it on the laptop and it works fine. but I want to make sure that it wasnt just a fluke that it worked...

thoughts?

If you zipped it, moved it and it worked fine, what's the problem? You did unzip it on the laptop and give things a whirl? If they worked, it sounds like you're good to go.

well I remember in the past when I tried this... and this is going to the original TNM 7 Version. It used to give big time errors when you did this.

You zipped, moved, unzipped and tried it out already on the laptop ... yes? If so, and it is working fine, you should be okay. Open it a few times and see if it keeps working or if it was just a fluke.

It's usually not a problem as long as you have a legitimately registered copy. The big problem is when you do this with an unregistered copy, as different times on the different computers will kill your trial period.

Also, as I'm sure you all are tired of hearing ... ALWAYS!!! Make a complete backup copy of your TNM when you are working with it on a regular basis... and make sure the backup copy is on removeable media not on the same hard drive.  Copy to a CD or a thumbdrive, just in case, this way you will have your last save point to revert to if something should go wrong with the circuit's innards.  I wish I would heed my own advice, it would have saved my SCW:MF circuit, that was one of my better works.

ya know, i did this very thing a year ago ... zipped up my TNM and moved it to my laptop, and now I can't access my Gimmick Match database. Anytime I try to get into it, it closes TNM.

I really should email Oliver about this again. See if he has looked at it yet.
