Ratings/Buyrates/Attendance...

Hello MamushiPosted on 01/22/08 at 04:04:38

Anyone have a good system for randomly determining TV ratings, PPV Buyrates and/or attendance percentages?

Aside from the old arena plugin I mean
JeepGuyPosted on 01/22/08 at 06:42:43

TFP 1.3 does attendance and television ratings. I didn't think it was all that good or have much luck with it but at least it worked whereas, I couldn't get Cardstat to work at all.

Strange thing for me was, I got CS to work perfect for me in FE, but not in SE.

I use Socko's Financial Spreadsheet to simulate my fed's economy.

Same here.

While it would be something fun to have, it isn't a dealbreaker on running a circuit. They work just fine without it.

Actually, I much rather see an updated, or better version of an Arena plugin.

Ryan Solberg started working on that a while ago, but he's been MIA for a few years now.

He was also supposed to be going a better version of FCA Cubed

Perhaps the US media should use a copy of it, since they can't even get the word "recession" used properly.  it's an "economic slowdown" not a "recession".  Damn media.

Its a recession when a republican is office and a economic slowdown when a democrate is in office. you should know how the media works by now :)
Rick GarrardPosted on 01/24/08 at 01:40:13

a recession is when two back to back quarters of the year have a NEGATIVE economic growth.  Last I checked the US growth was around 1.5 to 2.5% much lower than the 3-4% we've been encountering the last few years, but not negative.  This is why the NYSE saw such the wild bounce this morning from hugely down to the up at the end.

Even the Bush-Supporting Fox News?

Try PM'ing Socko (is he here anymore?). If that doesn't yield any result, PM me. I don't know if it's cool to send out other people's stuff, but I AM listed in the credits as an inspirational source  ;D

Then again, so is Brother Love.  ;)

Fox News is lousy but you're acting as if the other news networks do not show bias. I kind of think that you might be a liberal and don't really mind bias when it is shown favorably for liberal Democrats. Is that right?
Rick GarrardPosted on 01/25/08 at 21:08:18

The only network that doesn't show bias is PBS with the Lehrer NewsHour.  Their bias is toward spreading governmental propaganda instead.

Wrong, I'm not liberal or conservative. I can go either way, I'm a moderate.

Then you really don't believe in anything? The only reason I brought a possible bias up is that you used the FOX News example instead of CNN, MSNBC, and the other networks that tend to lean to the liberal ideology. It's hard to buy FOX News as being bias towards conservatives anymore when they won't give time to true conservatives and Rupert Murdoch donated money to the Hillary Clinton campaign.
pszPosted on 01/29/08 at 04:22:14

My biggest gripe with Fox is that they have a few "tv personalities" who are, for lack of a better term, on the payroll of the Drudge report and/or the current administration (along with at least two radio personalities).

My biggest gripe with MSNBC is that, in terms of most watched, their guys are all FORMER Fox people who are pissed at Fox :-P

My biggest gripe with CNN is, well... They're the "D" version of Fox :-P

In summary.... I hate most news sources, and thus watch/read as many as I can if a story seems a bit "off" (Fox/xNBC/BBC/AP/Reuters/CNN/and a few others). From there, I do the proverbial math, and figure out what's actually possibly the closest thing to "truth"...

... And then I believe like... 1/4 of THAT.

(Yes, I'm a cynic. Tough)

The fact that there's such a low turnout now. ;)

Truthfully, I don't really care about any of the so called "news" networks.
