Longest match ever

FormulaFirebird91Posted on 04/17/07 at 08:35:02

I dunno what happened. I scheduled a match for one of my cards in a WWF circuit I just started. (I say WWF the storyilne is new owners came in bought out Vince killed the brand extension and left Raw as the only show and changed the name back to the WWF despite complaints from the other WWF) Anyway I booked a match that was Chris Benoit and Balls Mahoney vs. The Worlds Greatest Tag Team and I had the time limit set to the normal time limit... but the damn match wouldn't stop. I was freaking thinking I was going to lose the entire card. (I already ahd it screw up once) Like a trooper though I fought through pressing the button to continue. It ended up being 4 hours and 7 minutes long and turned out to be a 5 star match somehow but that was one heck of a glitch. The match after that I had scheduled as the main event and it lasted 3 minutes. lol

So i figured i'd post this question to everyone... what was your longest match (Whether by choice or glitch) and what rating did it get? Sorry if this has been asked before but since it just happened to me I thought i'd see. :)

*edit* Just noticed something else after going back through the match. Jeff Hardy showed up at the begining of the match (not planned by me but the Hardy's are feuding with WGTT in my fed so it makes sense) and stayed through the whole thing helping Benoit and Mahoney. He tossed them weapons hit people with chairs and helped Benoit and Mahoney up when they were down. The thing about this is I had DQ's and Countouts on as well. He interfered probably at least a dozen times in the match. Weird.

.....my longest match ended up eing all 9's and I think that will come up for alot of people who reply to this thread, in my case I booked a first blood match between "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Ahmed Johnson, after the match ended with a message say something along the lines of this match cannot end so it's being aborted at this point (paraphrasing there - I'm sure somebody can pull out the exact line), I checked each man in the database and saw that neither man had the "juices" box checked, this also occured for me during a war games match where I had tried to book a double pin.....

Yeah, the match cannot end.... it was a hardcore match between Mohammed Yone and the Messiah (I think)... might have been someone else... anyway, storyline-explanation was that they brawled out on the streets and disappeared in a car...

I would probably edit the match length of your match and reduce the stars... a match that goes for 4 hours is just silly.

I set up a steel cage match between Ahmed Johnson and Sting and I selected cage escapes only as the way to win.

Once they hit the 10 hour mark, I got a message that the match scheduled apparantly cannot end for some reason. Therfore, we're calling it off.

it was also give the 5 star rating.

Rey thats what I was planning on doing cuz I thought the same thing. A 4 hour match is a tad unrealistic. Specially for the WWE haha It's just funny.

I've never had one get to the point where wouldn't end yet. I'm sure it will happen eventually. :)

I've had a number of those where it says the match cannot end etc. etc. It's almost always from messing up a gimmick flag somewhere though I have once in awhile seen a pretty normal match do that- it's usually due to interference- sometimes TNM's random interference will muck it up and the referee will keep extending the time limit. Usually in that case, I'll edit the match time to reflect a normal time limit and leave it as a draw, if that's possible, otherwise if it's brutally long (or short), I will adjust the match time limit accordingly and usually yank a star and a half or so. But, yeah, usually for me it's some sort of missed flag either in the match or the wrestlers.

Not counting the "match cannot end" glitch, I've had battle royals and Royal Rumbles go into like 7 or 8 hours.  Such a pain in the taint.

Had a handicapped match (Big Show vs Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman) go about 4 hours. I had booked it to end with Show pinning Sandman around the 13 minute mark, but it just kept going....

Book a no time limit Iron Man Match.

I have a habit of forgetting to make sure there IS a time limit on Iron Man matches, and that will take it past the nine hour mark and it usually comes with a high match rating.

Not counting matches that TNM was unable to finish after 10 hours, I had a cage match between Ron Simmons and IRS last over 7 hours once.

The longest I've had was a 4 hour + match. It was just a singles match with a booked finish as far as I knew. It just kept going and going. When it was finally over, I just edited the time for my write-up. It got at least 4 stars.

Other than those rare occasions where the match can't finish and it goes like 10 hours without a winner, the longest match I had was actually 8 hours long: A 50 man pinfall only Royal Rumble. I was just fooling around and not running a serious circuit.

if a match seems to be taking too long, I generally will hit the "f" key to bring it to a halt. Had an almost 2 hour title match once. I seem to only get these when I book interference. Not usually. I had a Tag Team tables match between The Dudleys and Finlay/Regal last over an hour on my most recent TNA PPV though
