generic movesets?

LillaThrillaPosted on 02/14/03 at 01:56:51

I want to compile a list of generic movesets.  These would be 10-20 moves that are VERY common amongst wrestlers of a particular style and/or in a particular fed.

This is partly to form a list as an addition to TNM 3:16, but this could also be good to help Oliver create a plugin for TNM7.

Here's what I'd think are the "main styles".  Feel free to add others and suggest move lists for these...

  • WWF/WWE "Main Event" Style (Rock/Austin/etc)
  • US Mat Wrestler (Angle/Lesnar types with legit NCAA/Olympic experiance)
  • US Indy Spot Machine
  • US garbage wrestler
  • lucha libre high flyers
  • lucha libre comedy wrestlers
  • lucha libre brawlers
  • puro technicians
  • puro garbage wrestlers
  • puro juniorweights

I would take the generic set of 6.x and add a few options like :

* Heavyweight wrestler (eg. Giant, etc.) : chokeslam, choke, etc...
* Rookie/Jobber : lariat, clothesline, backdrop, snapmare, etc.
* Mat wrestler : lots of takedown & submission moves.
* all-rounder

I do think this feature will help a lot on quickly creating wrestlers.

I'm bored, so I went back so old, old threads.

Was anything else done with this?

nothing i imagine.

though if we revived the project we could created an export of bases for the styles one could just clone.

thoughts?

I trained under a guy who was very oldschool and as far as moves went, he taught only the basics. This would be a good start for a rookie or jobber.

- side headlock
- arm wringer
- hammerlock
- drop toe hold
- bodyslam
- headlock takeover
- armdrag
- arm twist takeover
- hiptoss
- clothesline
- back elbow
- backdrop
- dropkick
- snap mare
- monkey flip
- school boy
- small package
- shouldertackle

If I think of more I will add to this list.

Punch, kick and armbar?

That is a good list.

I forgot how essential armbars were. And punching and kicking is at your own discretion.

wristlock (aka arm twist)?

What about lucha technicians? Contrary to popular belief, there are technicians in Mexico, case in point, Blue Panther, and El Hijo Del Santo.

You can also add European/British style as well.

maybe its because I have been getting up at 430 am all week, but when I first saw this thread, I thought it was called geriatric movesets. I was expecting to see imports of the Nacho Man and the Huckster.
