Eight Simple TNM Rules

Glum76Posted on 12/24/07 at 00:53:33

For those who want to mix up their circuits a bit, but don't have the patience to follow a detailed rule set, here are some simple unbreakable rules that I've been following in my own circuits:

1.  Book every match on your weekly TV shows, but run all PPVs unbooked.

2. Don't give any mic time to anyone on the lower half of your roster; make them earn a push by winning unbooked matches on PPV.

3.  Have your top two faces and top two heels appear twice each during every TV show to firmly establish them as the cream of your roster.   (Example: an in-ring promo in the first part of the show and a post-match save of a comrade in the last half of the show).

4. Bolster the movesets of your top pushed wrestlers with the cloning / extra damage / Special Move Wizard technique.

5. Don't use a commissioner / authority figure / general manager - it's played out.

6. Announce the following week's matches at the end of the current week's show or at the beginning of the next show.  (No "on the fly" / impromptu matches.)

7.  Have one jobber match per week.

8.  Never have more than one heel / face turn take place in any given six week period.

I have personally found that these rules help me maintain the focus, structure, and personal entertainment value of my circuit.  Feel free to comment.

these are really sound ... I adhere to about half of them ... more if I have time to really plan out my TNM week (which consists of three shows, four if I have a PPV) ...

Jurso - Which ones do you adhere to?  Do you have any other personal "rules" that you follow in your circuits?

I think #2 is the only one I don't agree with, only because it's hard to make it onto a PPV without mic time.

If you're saying don't have those guys come to the ring to do a promo, then fine. But a backstage promo or insert promo or color commentary during a match that involves his PPV opponent would all be considered "mic time" and I think it's appropriate to get the match over.

This is if you're doing a WWE or TNA type of promotion, which I figured considered you used the term "PPV."

In the end, we all run our shows differently and I think this is a good guide to anyone who is not sure which direction to take a promotion in.

well, I never book PPV's, but only occasionally book weekly TV ... I usually book weekly TV when I have a title match on TV that I absolutely don't want to see change hands before a PPV ... I try to have my top guys on TV at least once a week, but sometimes my life gets in the way, and I forget that I am pushing a huge I/C Title match and keep the champ off TV that week ... I hardy ever play with movesets, the only exception there is if I have an I Quit or Submission match coming up with someone who doesn't have a Submission (see John Cena pre-STFU) ... I have GM's on all three weekly shows (raw, sd, tna), but they are rarely used ... while I don't announce next week's matches, I do plan them at least a week in advance, usually based on what happened during the show ... no jobbers ... since I don't book all the time, sometimes I get a jobber beating a mid-carder, and I don't really like that ... sometimes I feel like WCW in the fact that I will turn some guys heel/face really close together, but then I will go months without a major turn, so it evens out ...

a couple of rules that I try to adhere to is to have all appropriate titles on the line every PPV with no time limits on those matches ... used to run every title match as No DQ/No Countout as well ... on my WWE circuit I run 8 match weekly TV (raw/SD) I run the first three as either Heat or Velocity, then the final 5 as the main show .. never more than 5 during the main show ... 4 if I have a battle royale of over 20 people (I just don't have enough on the roster to justify that) ..

other than that, I just have fun with it and run with what TNM gives me .... I love the randomness of the sim most of the time because it gives me so much to work with, even if I can't get Carlito to win a match unless I tell TNM he will win
