I know this relies on the 'M' key to hire wrestlers past the four singles and tag team wrestlers. However, is there a defined point where you should stop using the 'M' key? Meaning, once you get to the point that you have 20 wrestlers, you really shouldn't be using the 'M' key unless you go under 20 (or 30, whichever the defined limit is) or for storyline purposes?

Couldn't you just load up a predetermined number of wrestlers, hire your 4 singles and whatever number of tag teams and use the M key to select from your set number of unhired wrestlers?

That way, you have some control over who gets brought in for a match without selecting individuals?

You use the 'm' key to bring in new guys.

So if Wrestler A came in with the 'm' key but his contract just expired, you're only left with 19 guys and you might need another guy to finalize a card. You use the 'm' key and Wrestler B comes in.

When I used these rules there were some cards when I didn't use the 'm' key because I had enough guys. Then there were other cards when I had to use the 'm' key quite a bit.

I always tried to keep my card limited to five or six matches when I was running TNM-RG Memphis. For many examples see:

If you look at most of my cards from the original TNM-RG circuit, you will find that I rarely have more than 14 guys on the roster at any time.

Then again the rules are there merely as a guideline to running a successful circuit, and may be tweaked by the user as needed.

For my money, the best angle in the TNM-RG Memphis started at the end of 2006 and ended in early 2007 which was having a masked wrestler as the champ, only to have the masked wrestler get his gear stolen and thusly lose his title.

I think it helps the TNM-RG rules if you decide on a limit for roster size and stick with it. My first time running a TNM-RG, I started with 2 long-term tag teams and 6 long-term singles wrestlers, so after Week 1 I had a roster size of exactly 20. Unfortunately I kinda went hog wild, ended up with 2 tag titles, 5 singles titles, and a bloated roster usually in the 35-45 range. Not that it wasn't a fun circuit, but I've grown tired of it after Week 250.

I've since gone back to do another circuit with a semi-hard roster limit of 14. Through Week 34, I like the feel a bit more. Heck, 20 could have worked if I had kept to a limit. But 14 workers with no excessive roster bloat kinda hits the spot. (4 long-term singles, 1 tag team, 6 guys hired at Week 1, 2 more short-termers thrown in to give some depth.)

Occasionally the line gets blurry when you have injuries, guys on the way out, and managers who also appear in the database as wrestlers. But I'm not gonna succumb to temptation and end up doing 10-on-10 tags followed up by secondary tag champs vs. cruiserweight champ and hardcore champ. :P

Anyone can say "I've got a roster of 2 good guys and 20 jabronis, let me bring in 2 more good guys and 20 more jabronis and spend 90 minutes a card just making matches." Working with what you're given - and imposing a limit on your resources - has proven to be fun and interesting for me.
