Error 9

triad4evrPosted on 01/25/08 at 00:03:13

I've just started getting an Error 9 at something or another on my main circuit. Sadly, it is my 2007 season, whose data I was _just_ about to compile, so it will really suck if I lose it all- can anybody help me nail down what it is and if there's anything I can do to salvage the win-loss record from it? I ran TNMDIAG and everything appears to be fine, and my other circuits seem to be running okay...

I would say that your best bet is to email Oliver. Wish I had his email handy to give it to ya, but alas, I don't. Someone here has it no doubt.

no promises, but try renaming the "teams.idx" file to "teams.old"

after a quick search i found that as a possible fix.

I'd make a copy of your TNM folder before you try it though, just to be safe.

Gonna try  Mamushi's fix first. I have Ollie's address, but he's pretty busy these days so I won't bother him unless I have to... thanks!

No luck. Guess I'm going to have to e-mail him- thanks, everybody, so far, for your help!

make sure you send him the entire error message, not just the error 9 part (the "at pgm-ctr:" with whatever numbers behind it too)

Try entering all the circuit-specific databases and making one minor change (add a tag team, change a ref's stats, etc) then saving - this will force TNM to rebuild the circuit-specific databases.

Error 9s often seem to be related to running out of memory. Did you just import a ton of wrestlers? While there is no hard limit on how many you can have, TNM tends to start crashing (for me) around 800 wrestlers on win98se with 192M RAM, around 1300 wrestlers on win2k with 256M RAM. Deleting some wrestlers may help in this case, though you should not do this if you have booked a card but not run it, as you'll garble the wrestler database for that circuit. (Another instance where Saved Lineups would be handy.)

It might also help if we knew at which point the crash occurs. What are you doing when it happens?

I am trying to access one of my circuits. All of my other circuits, including a full one, access just fine. And I can't access any of the circuit databases because it crashes on the way in.

And I thought error 7's were memory issue, 9's are related to some degree of corruption in the circuit data, are they not?

Also I have a gig of RAM and probably 300-400 wrestlers currently. I have not imported any.

All other circuits are operating properly.
