TNM's Ability To Learn Your Booking Style

djmasterscooterPosted on 11/28/07 at 16:01:00

I remember Oliver mentioning that TNM learns as you book.  So I'm curious, if you run an unbooked circuit, how has TNM adapted itself to your booking style?

Here's mine:

I've been running an Umbrella, with Raw, SD, ECW & TNA as separate circuits with shared talent flagged, which means limited talent and short shows.  Keeping to my own rules of 6 match TV shows, and 8 match PPV's (usually), TNM now gives me results in one-fall matches that would fit in into a single-hour broadcast, and actually tends to make my PPV's & Supercards longer.

So how does TNM adapt to your style?

Since I tend to not use as many hardcore style matches and use more of the traditional "old school" style quite a bit, I've noticed that TNM usually poos all over matches for me when I do introduce a randomly out of place weapons filled brawl to the mix unless it is part of an on-going feud between the combatants involved.

And yes TNM does learn your style.  Oliver confirmed it a couple years ago when I asked about it.

never heard of this ...

I will have to pay more attention I guess

Any more details on this would be greatly appreciated.

It's something thats most noticeable when you run a LONG running circuit.  I'm not talking 10 or 20 cards, I'm talking 300 or 400 cards at the least, when it becomes apparent.  I figured it out when I was working on the "Memphis" TV circuit I had for a rules set I did.

So does it do anything other than dictate how the crowd reacts to matches?

If your circuit is mostly made up of power houses and brawlers, a lucha match wouldn't go over well and vice versa?

What kind of style would TNM learn from The TNA booking team?

nothing ... absolutely nothing ... my 2 year old son can book better than Russo and Co.

which in turn, influences match star ratings.  Also, I've seen it take and get 5 star matches out of the likes of Don Muraco and Bam Bam Bigelow because of a 6 man tag feud they were in that ended with them battling in a classic singles match that got 5 stars because their 6 man tag had done so the previous card.  It's not often that you see either of them in many 5 star classics, but they were because I teamed them with my top wrestlers which in turn gave them "the rub".   Thusly TNM's ability to learn.

TNA could learn from TNM.

Thanks. I always wondered if it helped a wreslter who wasn't over to team him with someone who has a '9' heat rating.
Rick GarrardPosted on 01/04/08 at 01:55:26

I believe that it does from my experiences.  It seems if you have a fairly new guy that seems to be heading the wrong way in his heat rating, then pair him with a guy that's mega over, and while it may hurt your over guy, it should also help the guy that's not over.
