booking the initial title tournaments?

What is your preference for booking the inagural title tournaments? Is it strictly Main Event Guy vs Main Event guy all the way through? Do you use lower card guys in the tournament?

In my opinion if you do main event guy vs main event guy in especially in the earlier rounds, yes he looks dominant but he already beat all his future challengers.

However, if you throw jobbers in there, it makes it look like they have a viable shot  at winning the title. If one or two of the lower card guys go far, in one night you have established them as guys who could carry the company in the coming years. The downside though, is that its not the cream of the crop of the promotion, so the champ comes off strong, but not as strong maybe as if it were all main eventers.

In terms of the world title, last time out I did a battle royal featuring the main event guys. That meant that the fed showcases its top guys, the champ comes off strong for beating the biggest names and it has the added advantage that whomever has won hasn't already beat his future challengers in the manner that you refered to.

What I do is have three to four battle royals. The winners of these battle royals will face each other in a three or four way elimination or ladder match for the title the following week. The winner will be my World Heavyweight champion. The last man eliminated from each battle royal will also compete in a three or four way match to determine my secondary title holder. The last man elimanated in that match will become the #1 contender for the World title. For my tag titles I usually book a small tournament (8-16 teams) to determine my champs (but I usually do it manually, because I usually like the final match to be a ladder or steel cage match. With my CW/Junior Heavyweight title I usually wait until I have enough CWs hired for that.
