Dos Emulators

Has anyone else tried to run TNM7 on a Mac through Dosbox and had success? I get to the end of the installation and then the screen freezes on "finishining installation". Lets Discuss!

Macs suck!

I don't know Macs very well, but I've used DosBox to run TNM before and it worked pretty good. I think the problem lies with trying the run the installation program.

Send a request to Oliver (the maker) at copp(at)hexacon.de to see if he can send you an installed version. If you don't hear back from him in a day or two send an e-mail to me (e-mail in my profile) and I'll see about sending you a ZIP.

Oliver's a busy guy that doesn't seem to come around much, but we'll do what we can to help.

not sure about this, as I don't have a Mac, but isn't there a program called "Parallels" which let's you run Windows on an Intel based Mac?  If that's the case, then merely run it from there.  :)

Virtual PC is another (possibly older) one.

That would be nice if a DOS emulator could make TNM word wrap.

Fixed.

So Rick, are you saying that something like DosBox could make something word wrap? It's such a small gripe but that above all else is my top wish for new TNM. Even the TNM Circuit Editor SE doesn't word wrap and that is a Windows application.
Rick GarrardPosted on 07/13/07 at 15:15:02

no, what I am saying is that no matter which platform you use TNM on, it will not word wrap, including DOS.

E/OS and QEMU might also work.

Bochs may as well, and is a bit easier (if slower) to use.

The most success I've ever had on my Mac has been with RealPC. Good luck finding a copy though. You also need to run it through OS 9, which makes things feel really dated.

It worked really well, the speed was good, although I could never get the plugins to work. I ended up getting a cheap used laptop just to run TNM.
