Secondary (Or ternary or quarternary...) titles...

mamushiPosted on 06/10/07 at 15:39:12

Lets make a list of secondary titles we've used in the past (or even that we haven't used, but have ideas for) for some of the people who may get stuck.

I'll do some obvious ones first...

Television
United States
North American
Intercontinental
Cruiserweight
X-Division
European
Hardcore

I suppose you have Light-Heavyweight as well if you want to have a slightly different weight limit. And if you're really struggling there's always the Million Dollar Belt. :P

Oh yes, and when we were much younger, me and a group of friends used to mess around and what not and we had a series of titles that were "defended". One of which was the MEGA BELT that my younger brother got lumped with, and ranked one place below the Million Dollar Belt.

haha, for that matter there was Siaki's "Universal Title" in GLWF, decked out with glitter, racing stripes, and unicorn stickers.   :D

Some categories:

  • By weight (heavy, cruiser, welter, feather, middle, etc.)
  • By geographic area (Universe, Global, International, National, Regional, etc.)
  • By match type (Brass Knuckle, Hardcore, King of Deathmatch, BFA, etc.)
  • By age (U30, Young lions, etc.)
  • By gimmick (Million Dollar, FTW, "King", etc.)
  • By media (Television, Internet, PPV, etc.)
  • By gender/size (Women's, Midget's, Transsexual (?), etc.)

Also, don't feel restricted to having an actual belt. You could use Angle's Gold Medals, or Harley Race's crown. One of the incarnations of TNMWA had a championship towel (defended in towel matches). You can also create championships like this:

Four Corners Match for the vacant Job of WWE Commissioner
Mick Foley defeated Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and Al Snow:
x Mr. McMahon beat Snow via the Mac Stunner in 0:32:20
x Mr. McMahon beat Shane-O-Mac via the Mac Stunner in 0:37:41
x M. Foley beat Mr. McMahon via the Mandible Claw in 0:41:18
    Rating: *** 1/2
(Mick Foley won the Job of WWE Commissioner.)

I used the "International" title as a Secondary Title.

I also had the World Title be Gold, the International Title be Silver, and the US/North American Title be Bronze.

    I'm such a dork.

In one of my feds, I have a Battle Royale Title- it is only earned by winning a battle royale, then it is defended in singles or standard matches between PPVs and if a wrestler defends it enough times, he or she can cash it in for a shot at one of the other titles, specifically, 6 defenses in my fed earned a World Title shot, 5 earned a shot at the divisional titles (in essence Heavyweight and JuniorHeavyweight titles), 4 earned a shot at the Television title, 3 allowed for competition in a match for the first Battle Royale title defense for the new champion, etc. And it is stripped, usually at the next PPV unless cashed in. Oh, and you don't actually have to be holding it to get the shot- if you, say, defend it 4 times before losing it, you can still have a shot at Television.

Also, there is the Hard Knocks title- the main thing with this one is that it is almost always some kind of gimmick match, though sometimes it will be old-school 2-out-of-3 falls as the gimmick. This one is roughly equal to the Television title (defended most weeks on the TV shows, the most serious challengers appear at the PPV)

Oh, the other thing about the Battle Royale Title- unless somebody is cashing in their shot at it, the opponent is random, essentially drawn by lottery the night of the match.

Anyway, my two cents plus tax.

Here's your winner and the new Transsexual champion, Chyna! :-P

I prefer the 5* title, only people who won a 4* or above match can compete for it. Every win gets 1 title shot.

In my women's fed, on the 'ECW-esque' show I have a secondary belt called the Lady Death Championship, which (predictably) can only be defended in Death Matches, with the occasional Iron (Wo)Man match thrown in at PPVs.

    theres the Intergender title!

Andy Kaufman, forever our intergender champion.
    YunPosted on 06/26/07 at 07:44:14

I actually had an inter-gender tag title, contested between two teams each with a man and a woman. I had a pretty good feud between Stevie Richards/Victoria and Paul London/Alexis Laree before I lost interest in the circuit.

In one of muy circuits I occassionally use the Brawl For All Title (maybe 3 times a year). If you're going to use BFA, make sure it's with guys you can live without for a while because injury rish is high.
