The OFFICIAL Snabbit Challenge for the Day!

Snabbit888Posted on 07/25/06 at 23:54:37

Today, everyone should feedback a circuit they normally wouldn't feedback.  I think there's a lot of good stuff going on in the circuit forums, but it gets overlooked by a lot, myself included.  I'm going to start trying to feedback more as I have definitely slacked off on that.  Maybe we can stir up a little more interest around here bit by bit.
CarlzillaPosted on 07/25/06 at 23:57:09

I think that's a fantastic idea.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 07/25/06 at 23:59:07

I will definitely try. I just don't want to give lousy feedback like "Good card." I read many of the circuits here, but a lot of times I feel like if I leave comments they'll come off as forced and useless.

We should probably have some kind of card review standard. Maybe like a "Good, Bad, and Ugly" kind of system...Or a ripoff of the column 3 Rs of Wrestling from 411Mania.
Snabbit888Posted on 07/26/06 at 00:05:33

I think even just digging a little deeper than you might, or even just reading a bit more closely could help.  I notice that a lot of times I end up skimming and think, "Man, I have nothing to say" and then when I re-read more closely, it's there.  I just think a lot of people work hard on their circuits, so even if they're not doing them for the feedback, it would be cool if they got some.  Helps motivate people to keep going and keeps the community positive and fresh.
CarlzillaPosted on 07/26/06 at 00:05:58

I like the Good, Bad, Ugly kinda card rating system. If people where to adopt it, it would be really easy to see how many people where following your circuit because they could just leave a one word comment on what they thought of the card overall, and of course they could leave specific stuff if they felt so inclined. I just kinda picture it being like one of those "thanks" buttons on the torrent sites, just to let the poster know that you thought their card was good, or bad, or whatever.
HugeRockStar760Posted on 07/26/06 at 00:30:32

Well, I'll clarify the Good, Bad, Ugly thing...I wouldn't want someone just saying "Ugly." I'd envision this:

Good:
I thought the buildup to the John Cena/Edge match has been well done throughout the cards leading up to their match. I really bought the promos from these guys as showing that the WWE Title really is important.

Bad:
While I like the IC Title scene involving Carlito, Johnny Nitro, and Shelton Benjamin...Everything just feels rushed and put together at the last moment. There's no importance to the match. Also, probably too many cards for a Monday Night RAW, as it is a 2 hour show.

Ugly:
The Big Show/Kane match was really not exciting and I didn't see the point of putting Kane in an ECW World Title Match when he has been away promoting his movie and isn't an ECW wrestler.

Something like that. :-) However, I don't think there should be so much negativity sections. Far be it for me or anyone to criticize how or who people decided to push in their circuits. That's all subjective. I guess just basic comments would do better.
CarlzillaPosted on 07/26/06 at 00:34:23

Yeah, I was just picturing more of a "Thanks, I enjoyed it." or "Wasn't my thing." kinda catch all. Just to let the original poster know that someone is actually reading. I know I don't have a lot to say about every card I read, but I think it would be nice to just post something to the effect of "I enjoyed the show".
HugeRockStar760Posted on 07/26/06 at 00:40:07

I always thought it would be nice if the view column would expand to show who read the card.

I'll think of some system to use for myself to give good feedback. There's so many circuits though. It'll be hard to keep track of storylines.
Rick GarrardPosted on 07/26/06 at 07:41:12

I already beat you to this challenge earlier in the week Ryan when I replied to Matt Harms NAWA predictions post.  :)

True, that is why with iMPACT! i try to do a recap of everthing on the web site, and on the circuit update try to give you some of the back info for those who want it on how the fed is doing, commings and goings. I try to feedback when i can but as stated before there are a lot of good feds going on right now. I do the write ups because I'm interested in the story but it would be nice to see who if any is reading and what they liked or didn't like, If it's boaring, makes no since, Card to long, Card to short, just an idea on what our peers think of our work,

Just my 2 cents

I think we need to bring this one back.
Snabbit888Posted on 03/12/07 at 17:40:38

I concur.
MatteusPosted on 03/12/07 at 18:47:32

I third that notion!  Everyone comment for UW... I mean... something!

Huzzah!

Ive been watching the boards for a while now and you know what I find funny? People who will say things like "I will post comments on circuits if you post on mine" but don't. Then you have the "I don't like to post comments" then you see them post comments on just one circuit. I like this one "I don't like to post and just say good card or bad card." Then you see that person post a comment and say "Good post."

I think it's ironic that people come on to a wrestling board and talk about everything but wrestling. For the last month or so only about 4 people have been posting tnm circuits in the TNM circuit thread only 2 people ever comment on any of them, Then from on high the TNM golden boy returns to the boards and post a circuit and people who has not once commented good or bad about any of the great circuits that have been posted over the last few weeks come out the wood work and post comments.

Now this is a not a nock on anyone snce I don't know anyone on here. I'm just saying why not be honest around here and just say "I only post comments on circuits of my friends" and stop  the bull about why or why not some folks post comments.

We all need to be honest, everyone who posts here wants to know what people think about their circuit if not why bother posting? I for one as of today will start posting something on the ones that never get comments, I know it's not much but atleast you will know that someone is reading your work and cares enough to say hey good job or hey I didn't dig that last match, and stop the "I'm to busy to post, wait thats my boy I'll post on his." crap.

JakePosted on 06/16/07 at 01:41:15

I post comments on shows when I feel I have something to say/add. I do read a lot of the circuits, I just never have anything to say.

Although, I admit to feeling a little upset when my (rarely updated) ECW fed gets no love. :P
Snabbit888Posted on 06/16/07 at 03:28:05

Who is the Golden Boy?  That's where I got lost.

Yeah, it's not me because I got what... two comments on my new circuit?  And it's not Ryan... unless LionO has a time machine and zapped into the future where Ryan's circuit has been elected president.  Maybe I've just been removed from the boards too long, but like no one that I thought of when I read "Golden Boy" posts circuits anymore.

Unless... IS SUPERSTAR JIMIC COMING BACK?!?!? *omgwtfdieskthnxbye*

I see the point has been missed, It's not how many people post comments, it's who posts comments and when. The reason I brought this up is the same people who posted in this thread stated they couldn't, don't or can't remarks brcause they don't know what to say or don't have time but wish they could. That's fine and dandy, but in reality they only post comments that are posted by particular people. All you have to do is look at the circuit board look over the past few months and see who posts where.

It's nothing but a good old boy mentality here and some wonder why no one new ever post anything. Why bother?

Anyway I'm done nothing will change here, those who comment will comment and those who don't will continue not to, it's just a shame that those new to TNM will be scared off from posting here because they know people won't comment.

Don't give me "if it sucks I'm not commenting" or If it's good or different I will" the fact is If you read it you should say something. "Great card, kind of different from what I'm use to but I'll see where you take this" or "Nice card, I like what your trying but there is something that's feels out of place what are trying to go for?" Something You will be surprised on how many people just want to know if they are posting stuff people find interesting or if they are just posting crap. View counts are misleading because every time you enter or edit it counts as a view. You can have 12 views but if you know 4 of them are yours did the other 8 read it or did 2 click by mistake 2 read it and thought it was good and 4 just wanted to see what was there.

I'm not trying to start any flame wars or trying to call anyone out, I'm just wondering why more people don't contribute to the community. You don't have to post everyday or every time but it would be nice to know someone is reading.
CarlzillaPosted on 06/16/07 at 09:37:45

Or...maybe they just comment on those circuits because they've been reading them the longest, or because they have something to say.

There are some people around here who have reputations as being fantastic bookers, those people get comments, and are generally active and well known, which may have lead you to the opinion that people only post on their friends circuits.

Also, the reason I don't post, because everyone is always running a "WWE" style fed...which everyone knows my opinion of. I couldn't care less if Elijah Burke just totally punked out Marcus Cor Von, or if RVD is "getting the title run he deserves in real life", the characters just don't move me, and the style of story that those circuits put on don't move me. But, if I went into someones circuit and said..."hey dude, your circuit is totally lame and full of teh suxor..." it's way more harmful then if I just said nothing at all, so I keep my mouth shut.
Snabbit888Posted on 06/16/07 at 10:23:57

That, and if you're posting a circuit just for the sake of getting people to comment on it, you're a goon anyway.  I think I can say (and anyone can correct me if they think otherwise) that GCW was one of the more popular circuits here for a long time, and at most I'd get, 3, 4 comments?  And that was if I was lucky.

Point is, you should post if you want to, but if you just want comments, don't post, because it won't be fulfilling in the least for you.

Oh, and kind of like what Carlzilla said, maybe some circuits just aren't viewed in the same light that you view them?  I will be truthful and say I don't read too many circuits right now.  I'm sure there's some good ones, but most seem to be a "what if" style WWE fed, a classic WWF fed, or an unbooked/ruleset circuit, and truthfully, none of these appeal to me.  It's just preference.  It's not "good ol' boys."  And those of us that are "good ol' boys" posted circuits forever before we got that status.  Just be patient.  If it's good, people will find it.

Boo-hoo. What if I really have nothing to say? "Hey old chap, just to let you know I did skim through your card... that's it really." If I'd actually updated my fed lately, I'd be really upset right about now.
UnrightPosted on 06/16/07 at 15:04:14

I smell business opportunity! Slip me a couple bucks via paypal, and I guarantee at least 5 replies to every card you post. 5 posts from 5 different readers! (Namely me and 4 very suspiciously recently created accounts) You'll be swimming in popularity!
