A new concept idea

meetzorakPosted on 10/18/06 at 20:48:27

If anyone is interested i have just made up* an idea. I would need 4 other people to make this work here i go. Keep in Mind this is a ROUGH DRAFT of the idea and all constructive criticizim is welcomed.

Backstory: The year is 2009 The wrestling economy has been booming and networks have relized it. Unforunetly for Vinnie Mac, he was recently sued by the family of a fan that was killed in pryo accident, and thanks to Eric Bishcoffs recent book sucess and with a little help from his freind Ted Turner they were to by out Vince's UPN timeslot there for cancelling SMACKDOWN! and bringing back WCW Friday* Nitro. In the midst of the madness ECW was also shut down. ROH, TNA, and CZW have also been lucky as of late all reciving timesolts for 2 hour TV shows on national TV and being backed by MANY new companys. The new shows include CZW's Combat TV held on Wensday at 9, ROH's Beatdown held on sundays at 8, TNA impact now held on Saturday at 7. As you can guess talent has been flying from company to company in waht almost seems to be the "off-season" for wrestling and due to the almost uncanny luck of every promotion having nearly the same budget now a sort of draft was started, but as any other event involving wrestling there are a lot of twists and turns involved.

Draft Rules For WWE: WWE has managed to keep almost its entire RAW roster the only road bumps included the recent retiring of Shawn Micheals, also the fact that Edge, Kane, Triple H, and Randy Orton. The WWE will only draft 7 wrestlers, the only upside to this is they get to pick said wrestlers in a row before anyone else drafts. They cant pick the wrestlers that quit nor can they draft any "limetime workers"* of any other companies. The other roster will be decided by the current WWE raw roster. It is up to the promoter to make sure this roster accurate in the beginning of the curcit.

Draft Rules WCW: WCW has no lifetime workers as of now to make sure they get good quality wrestlers they will follow WWE by picking 5 wrestlers in a row then joining the rest of the draft but ending in the 25 round. After the draft is over they another 5 picks. WCW cannot draft The Undertaker, Booker T, The Big Show, or Kevin Nash.

Draft Rules for TNA, CZW, and ROH: They all have five lifetime workers issued as following

TNA: Sting, Jeff Jarett, Abyss, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles

ROH: Chris Hero, Byran Danielson, CM Punk (he has returned), Colt Cabana (also returned), and Christopher Daniels

CZW: John Zandig, Lobo, Eddie Kingston, Necro Butcher, and The Messiah.

They also get to draft 30 wrestlers in the draft.

They are allowed to draft anyone left after the first 12 picks.

Then the fun begins everyone has a monthly PPV and a weekly card also feel free to run as many house shows as you want and we will work out the kinks with contracts and what not as soon as i see some intrest.

*(I use the term made up very gingerly as i dont know if i atucally created this idea or just never sen it done on here yet)

* It used to be Monday i know.

* Limetime workers will eventually be able to jump ship after we figure out the contract and roster stituations.
peteg9699Posted on 10/18/06 at 21:26:09

Hey man, would love to jump on board with ROH. Let me know.....
lazy_duckPosted on 10/18/06 at 22:05:45

I'll game. I'll take TNA
meetzorakPosted on 10/18/06 at 22:35:00

Sounds good.

I'll stake my claim to WCW.
JustinPosted on 10/18/06 at 23:28:35

, also the fact that Edge, Kane, Triple H, and Randy Orton.
Also the fact that they what?
meetzorakPosted on 10/18/06 at 23:35:23

Left the company... sorry.
JustinPosted on 10/19/06 at 02:45:38

Why would you make it so Triple H left the company that his father-in-law owns?
meetzorakPosted on 10/19/06 at 02:47:48

They got divorced, bud.
CarlzillaPosted on 10/19/06 at 03:42:29

CarlzillaPosted on 10/19/06 at 11:27:08

So we've got the people, now we need to decide on a time to draft I guess.

I'm free anytime between 3:00pm and 9:30pm mountain time (5pm - 11:30pm EST, and 2pm - 8:30pm PST)
meetzorakPosted on 10/19/06 at 20:52:27

Im guessing it'll be on sunday since this is a looser group project we dont need the same exports or anything.
PulsarPosted on 10/20/06 at 04:48:07

Great idea, if it takes off, let me know if there's room for an Indy fed

In the words of the great Mills Lane, I'll allow it.
CarlzillaPosted on 10/20/06 at 10:46:10

How do we want to do the draft. Again, I vote for an AIM chatroom...

Is there any other way? (by saying this i mean yes an aim chatroom)

also i was thinking of just closing WWE all together nobody wants to run it and i cant blame them.
CarlzillaPosted on 10/20/06 at 23:13:09

I don't think it's a good idea to close WWE. It's just going to allow for one of the smaller feds to become WWE-Lite, as someone will grab a lot of the now available WWE talent. If no one wants to run it, that's fine, we can pretend that it's in existence without having any tangible shows to read. To strike it out of the universe is a bad idea though.

Agreed
PulsarPosted on 10/21/06 at 06:01:18

My idea for an Indy fed was I could not use any wrestling in the big fed, I don't get any draft picks (or essential draft last) and the big leagues can rob me of any talent not holding a championship at ANY time.

I know, I'm odd, but I like the challenge of making a fed where people can rob me of my talent daily. Gives me a way to get very creative with limited resources. LMK what you think.

CarlzillaPosted on 10/25/06 at 05:39:51

8ish what time zone?

How/Did the draft go?
CarlzillaPosted on 10/31/06 at 06:17:19

It sure didn't go. I think this might be dead in the water.

I still want to do another superleague. I wanted to join the NWA deal...but I don't like the year restrictions on wrestlers.
phudjiePosted on 10/31/06 at 11:01:48

I'd like to join a super league of sorts - I was in one a few years ago on another board - my fed lasted 16 weeks and was one of the last ones operating before we called it quits. I played an indy fed and we restricted our rosters to people who were still competing (for in ring work) and those that were still alive (for other roles), I think we used Lillers rules or something to that matter - gah - I'm babbling.
CarlzillaPosted on 10/31/06 at 11:18:22

I'd be interested in running a mostly informal one. I'm at work so I'll explain exactly what mostly informal means later.
PulsarPosted on 11/01/06 at 02:18:50

Carl, you mean like we did with GWA until you got super busy, I lost my hardrive, and Rey had trouble finding someone else to run a fed?
CarlzillaPosted on 11/01/06 at 06:15:32

Exactly like that. But without the monthly every fed "super" card. I find that these are usually what kills the leagues, the person in charge of doing them doesn't run the cards on time, and so eveyrone else slacks and eventually looses interest.

Mostly just a collection of feds with a unified "World" champion. We'd have to decide how to deal with his title defenses but I think maybe a booking comitee run through PM's would be the best idea. This way everyone has some input as to what the current superleague champion is doing.

Let me know if any of you are interested, as I'd like to start a fed (I've been getting that TNM itch) but I'd like it to be a little more interactive than just posting cards in the circuit forum (not in the JimiC way though).

Hopefully we can get at least 4 or 5 people besides myself and do a draft.
phudjiePosted on 11/01/06 at 08:32:22

.....what always kills me in these type of things is the "unified champion"  - sometimes - it's more of a burdon than anything.....
CarlzillaPosted on 11/01/06 at 08:33:49

I know...I was thinking that too. I'd really like to run without one, but I wasn't sure if anyone else would be down with that so I came up with that model. If people are interested in a universe type deal without a unified champ then we should definatly run it that way.

PulsarPosted on 11/02/06 at 07:54:55

Carl...sign me up bro
phudjiePosted on 11/02/06 at 09:35:49

I'm totally in to - I'd love to play with you guys as long as I don't actually have to interact with you guys ( in the form of a unified champion I mean ;))
CarlzillaPosted on 11/02/06 at 10:57:09

Awesome! Now, if we can get two more suckers people on board we'll set a time for the draft.
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/02/06 at 23:36:40

I'll hop on board; my aim sn is the same as my board name
CarlzillaPosted on 11/03/06 at 01:25:19

Nice. One more to go.

The Bizz 2.0Posted on 11/03/06 at 04:33:17

Hey... I'm in. I liked the 1st idea better on the post... but this'll have to do. Can someone IM me to explain to me how this is gonna work? (AIM- jonnypopali313)
PulsarPosted on 11/03/06 at 06:53:31

Zilla, look like you're in charge, AIM is synnstoxin
CarlzillaPosted on 11/03/06 at 07:10:38

What exactly do you need to know Bizz?

Basically these are just a group of feds posted in one place with a shared talent pool. I find them to be more fun because the fact that everyone is posting their circuits in the same place builds a more friendly enviroment and leads to at least a few regular readers of your circuit.

They usually have an NWA type structure where they have league wide champions, but since I find the idea to be kinda...eh, we've decided to run without one. The best example from here on the boards would be the way Snabbit and Americamamushi run GCW and GLWF.
CarlzillaPosted on 11/03/06 at 07:12:36

Do we want to do a live draft? If so, what time is best for everyone?

If not, what other options should we consider for setting up the initial rosters?
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/03/06 at 18:52:54

I'm on Eastern Time, just let me know when, and I'll try to be there.  My schedule changes every week.

phudjiePosted on 11/05/06 at 05:22:04

are going to have any litations - number of wrestlers - wrestlers we can use etc.

I'm not sure about the size of the roster - but I'd like to see us only use currently active wrestlers

what's everybody elses take on this??
CarlzillaPosted on 11/05/06 at 11:15:33

I would go with currently active or recently retired (everyone knows that no one stays retired in wrestling unless they suffer some career ending injury).

I would also like us to draft 20 wrestlers.

I think we should push the draft back one week, that way everyone has mighty fair warning, and any excusses for not showing up or rule descrepencies can be discussed as much as they need to.

So that would put the draft next sunday at 5pm EST.
phudjiePosted on 11/05/06 at 12:57:32

.....sounds good - I already had a rough list of about 30 candidates to draft - most of which I was pretty sure I could get in a draft situation - but yeah a week delay won't hurt - should we move this to a new thread - and maybe set up our own forum ahead of time - just so we're set.....
CarlzillaPosted on 11/05/06 at 23:33:13

It may be easier to just use my abandoned TNMJapan forum. We can get Oliver to change the name at some point, but it's empty and going to waste...so there's no reason we shouldn't use it.

I don't really see the need for a new thread to discuss things in. Maybe after we've settled on a name for the league/universe we can start a new thread to get the word out. But this one is working fine to discuss the basics.

The reason I went with 20 wrestlers instead of 30 is that it leaves more free agents open for other people who may want to join. If all the good wrestlers are taken, people are less likely to want to start a fed based around Rico because he was the biggest name still available.
The Bizz 2.0Posted on 11/06/06 at 00:10:41

Who are you to doubt El Dandy Rico?
PulsarPosted on 11/06/06 at 05:02:41

Thank god we moved it....my sister decided to go and get married this weekend.

And Carl, don't ruin my #1 Draft Pick
phudjiePosted on 11/08/06 at 13:39:46

.....haven't had any happenings in the passed couple of days, so I just wanted to make sure this was still a go; and also - who all is in this? and also - is this draft going to happen in/on AIM? if so - I need to install it :)
CarlzillaPosted on 11/08/06 at 13:48:03

I'm still down. I caught an adult case of the chicken pox so I'm stuck in my house until Wednesday, so Sunday still works fine for me.  AIM is always the best way.

xKOMPOSTx is my aim name. If everyone is still interested you should say so and repost your aim name as well. I'll make a chat room on Sunday afternoon around 5pm EST and round people up as they get online.

1. Mike Quakenbush
2. M-Dogg 20
3. Austin Aries
4. Low-Ki

Nice Carl.  Glad to see you up and about.  I'll add your picks to the sheet, and we'll do the next picks this Sunday.

Are we setting a limit?  25 or 30 or something along those lines?

Peace
CarlzillaPosted on 11/14/06 at 03:34:41

Biz, I'm a LOOOONG time Chikara fan (Guess it can't really be that long considering they've only been around for what, 4 1/2 to 5 years now, but you get what I mean). Give me a few shows to see if I can find a place for Quack, if I'm having trouble coming up with a way to use him I'll trade him to ya.

My original idea was 20 draft picks with a 25 man roster cap...the reason behind it was to leave enough decent wrestlers open so that if anyone wants to join late they aren't stuck trying to build their fed around Buff Bagwell...unless of course they want to...
phudjiePosted on 11/14/06 at 04:24:49

Anyone for any other time?  I'm free tomorrow (Tuesday) until 5:30.
CarlzillaPosted on 11/14/06 at 05:30:54

I'm also pretty much free anytime...unfortunately I sleep till about 3pm which is 5pm eastern because I work graveyards and even though I'm on sick leave, I don't like screwing up my schedule.
PulsarPosted on 11/14/06 at 06:14:04

SporadicoPosted on 11/14/06 at 06:22:08

Poop on that plan. It would be completely unfair for the person who organized this in the first place to miss out on both halfs of the draft. UNFAIR I SAY
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/14/06 at 07:57:07

I think we should keep the draft on Sunday @ 5 PM.  How about we confirm before hand just incase?  Or am I just being anal?

King MunshunPosted on 11/17/06 at 01:57:52

I won't be able to make it Sunday, and as previously stated won't be able to participate in the fed thing. Aside from the whole laziness issue, things are gonna start really picking up at work over the next few weeks.

Thanks for droppin me a line, though. T'was fun.
meetzorakPosted on 11/17/06 at 02:25:56

So im guessing my thread has been officaly hijacked.

CarlzillaPosted on 11/20/06 at 06:33:29

As soon as Djmasterscooter picks, we can all fill the 5 free slots on our rosters if we wish. I just want to make sure everyone has 20 guys before we all start picking up extras.

Also I'm going to send a PM to Oliver about getting our own section in the circuit forum as soon as we decide on what we want the universe to be called...it's kinda hard to start a new forum without a name.

Is there anything else we wish to discuss now that the draft has happened?

PulsarPosted on 11/20/06 at 07:13:00

I can't think of anything that needs to be discussed other then...free agency is first come, first serve...no waiver wire type thing, right?
CarlzillaPosted on 11/20/06 at 07:45:45

Yep...first come first serve. I think maybe a 10 card limit on the next 5 guys or something to keep talent rotating. You can resign them if they want to resign...but it's just to keep some  people floating. Just an idea, not a rule.
meetzorakPosted on 11/20/06 at 21:59:19

Got enough hosses, Phudjie?  :P
phudjiePosted on 11/21/06 at 01:06:54

...you can never have too many hosses :)...
.....btw - I'm trying to fill out my export of Ken Doane - but I only have about 20 moves - most of which are the usuals for the WWE style - punch, kick, etc, does anybody have any insight into his moveset.....
meetzorakPosted on 11/21/06 at 16:26:21

How about prancing around like a male cheerleader, did you get that?
phudjiePosted on 11/21/06 at 21:26:38

.....somehow - i missed that part.....but for the time being - I think he's going to be generic lower midcard babyface for awhile......
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/22/06 at 04:11:42

Dudes, I totally spaced on this...I'm so sorry...between getting my Wii and school, I completely forgot.  I'll have my picks up within a day or so.  Once again, so sorry.
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/22/06 at 04:35:45

Here are my picks sooner than later...

Lashley
King Booker
Kane
Charlie Haas
Elijah Burke
Jeff Hardy
Justin Credible
Maven
Scott Steiner
Steven Richards
CarlzillaPosted on 11/22/06 at 05:54:29

It's totally fine. With your picks out of the way now, it's free agent season...let the signings begin.

Also...we still need a universe name...someone has to have some creative name...I sure as hell don't...but someone must.
djmasterscooterPosted on 11/22/06 at 06:54:43

Let's see...

Alliance of Wrestling & Entertainment (AWE)
Coalition Of Action Xtreme (COAX)
Alliance of Extreme International Organizational Umbrella (AEIOU)

Just trying to come up with something clever
PulsarPosted on 11/23/06 at 04:07:06

AEIOU...hilarous
I go with AWE
CarlzillaPosted on 11/23/06 at 04:08:12

how about Alliance of Wrestling Excellence

same initials...but not everyone is going for a sports entertainment feel...
CarlzillaPosted on 11/28/06 at 02:08:29

I sent Oliver a PM for a forum. We're using AWE, Alliance of Wrestling Excellence. We can start posting our shows in the main circuits forum for the time being.
CarlzillaPosted on 11/28/06 at 02:15:09

Also, I'm picking up four free agents.

Jack Evans
Arik Cannon
Taiji Ishimori
Alex Shelley
HugeRockStar760Posted on 11/28/06 at 02:33:18

Alliance of Wrestling Excellence has got to be the greatest name for a circuit in quite some time. Hopefully the results can match the name (i.e. please no over the top sports entertainment nonsense).
rebelins313Posted on 11/28/06 at 02:36:59

This looks like it's going to be awesome.  Wish I would've seen the thread earlier to try and get in.  Good luck with it guys.
CarlzillaPosted on 11/28/06 at 03:40:35

You can still join if you want...it's always open to new members...just take a look at the rosters and draft your 20 from guys not already taken...
rebelins313Posted on 11/28/06 at 05:00:33

If that's the case, I'll definitely be down to join.   I'll take a look over the rosters more carefully and see what I come up with.
rebelins313Posted on 11/28/06 at 05:42:52

After looking over the rosters I came up with this 20-man roster for myself.  Point it out if I accidentially took someone that isn't available.

John Zandig
Scorpio Sky
CIMA
Joey Ryan
Kevin Steen
Super Dragon
Joey Mercury
Johnny Nitro
Steve Corino
Brent Albright
Monsta Mack
Umaga
Mistico
C.W. Anderson
Sonny Siaki
Deuce Shade
JTG
Shad Gaspard
James Storm
Ron Killings
CarlzillaPosted on 11/28/06 at 07:16:55

That looks like a doable opening roster. Hopefully we'll have our own section soon, but as I said a few posts back, just use the regular circuits forum for now and we can repost the cards when we get our own space.
CarlzillaPosted on 11/28/06 at 09:57:03

We've got our own space. Oliver asked who needed to be made moderators, and I feel that we are a mature enough group that I listed everyone who is participating...so hopefully we'll have a space where we can all delete and sticky our own posts.
