Ruleset Role Question

triad4evrPosted on 10/06/06 at 03:06:10

So, what do you guys do when a role in a ruleset is messed up, say, the guy supposed to be in the role quits or gets injured? I'm running Matt Harms' TNA Ruleset and I've had a specific "rising star" get hurt shortly after arriving and have had stablemembers quit or not renew contracts. I'm just curious how you guys who run rulesets handle that sort of thing. Also, what do you guys do when a specific wrestler who fills more than one role for various reasons is supposed to be booked twice in one night- do you run it that way, sub somebody, or what? And if you sub somebody, do you have that person take over the role or do you revert it back once the original role player is available again?

I'm just curious to see what you guys do in these circumstances- I think it might be an interesting discussion! Thanks in advance!

Well I'm running a ruleset with my WCWF and what I do if someone gets injured or quits I try to work with it, maybe add it to the story or make an angle out of it. Or if you want to be strict you can go in email mode and not worry about contracts. For injuries I do the same thing try to work around it or make it into an angle, If thats not an option there is always the circuit editor and you could always un injure him.

I think thats the fun sometimes with TNM when running unbooked to see if you can work with what it throws out to you. Just my opinion

as a writer of a good many of rules sets, I have found that substitution can be a good thing.  And can lead to a "non-rule based rematch" in the future to determine who continues to fill the role that was vacated by the injured participant that was replaced.  And as I am sure the whole lot of us rules set writers will tell you, the rules are best used as a guideline, and not as hard, fast rules.  I can tell you that MANY times, I have varied from rules in my own rules sets just because something else at the time made more sense to do.

Well, I intentionally chose to run TNM unbooked and with contracts in place just for the sort of challenge that comes with working around those things- I wasn't asking for a way to "beat" those factors, I already know how to do all that stuff. I was just curious as to what you guys that use the rules actually do when it happens to you. I hadn't considered the idea of having the original person for the role and the replacement have some sort of program to decide who carries on the role. I might have to use that!

it works well, and it allows for you to cover up a booking mistake here and there as well if you do it.  ;)
