Need a reminder.

SykoholicPosted on 07/27/06 at 14:14:30

Hey all.  It's been a while since I've used TNM7SE and I seem to have forgotten a few things.  So if anyone can refreshen my memory, I'd appreciate it.

1) I know it's possible to have a wrestler do the same move three times in a row (Chris Benoit's rolling German Suplex) but I don't remember how.  I think it's done by listing the move as the first move in a combo and leaving the second move blank.... but I'm not sure.

2) It is possible to have a Battle Royal with pins and submissions but no over-the-top elimination.  Is it possible to have such a match be 1-Fall rather than Elimination?  If so, how?

I know you can do that with #2 on your list, as I've run Three Way Dances with that features. But I don't think it's one fall to a finish...There needs to at least be 3 wrestlers in the match.
SykoholicPosted on 07/28/06 at 14:14:52

What I was wanting was how to make them 1-Fall rather than elimination so that the first wrestler to score a pinfall or submission wins the whole match.

I'm not sure if this can actually be done since, in TNM, 3-Way Dances are considered battle royals and are thus Elimination matches by default.

You can easily have 3 or 4 ways as single fall matches, but more than that, it's elimination. So, no Six-Man Mayhem Matches.

That's the problem I'm having... how do I do this?  It's not giving me a "first fall wins" option... or if it is, I'm not seeing it.

Triangle match and Four Corners. But I'm guessing you don't want there to be tags and only 2 men in the ring at once, huh?
SykoholicPosted on 07/29/06 at 08:05:20

Not particularly.  The more I play around with TNM, the more I'm remembering and I seem to recall asking Oliver about this once and him saying there wasn't any way to do it.   :'(

By the way, you were correct on how to do the triple combos.
rey619Posted on 07/30/06 at 10:47:50

You should get the option "Shall the match be elimination style?" If you select 'no', it's first fall to a finish.

Alternatively, if you've got the circuit editor and you don't book your circuits results, you could have a battle royal and award the match to whomever gets the first fall before editing the results to show this.

I'm not getting this option.  Are you referring to Battle Royals or the 3/4-Way Dance plug-in?
Snabbit888Posted on 07/31/06 at 05:06:21

Well if you're using a plugin for it, that's an entirely different ball of wax.  If it's a non-Copp plugin, it's not going to have that eliminations options.  Use the standard triangle and four corners match option in TNM.
SykoholicPosted on 07/31/06 at 05:25:24

Ah... I misunderstood.  Didn't realize he was referring to Triangle/4-Corner matches.

I was just reading the Wishlist thread and there's a post from Oliver that states what I'm wanting (1st Fall Wins Battle Royal) is not available.

Oh well... can't have everything, I guess.

Thanks to everyone for your input.
Snabbit888Posted on 07/31/06 at 05:28:26

But like 91 said, if you aren't that worried about it, you can use the Circuit Editor and have the first person who gets a fall be considered your winner, then go in after the card and delete the rest of the match result.  Some people don't like to do that kind of stuff though.
SykoholicPosted on 07/31/06 at 05:33:14

I don't bother with the Circuit Editor.  IMO, it's kind of useless.  I use the Logfile Stripper to turn the logfiles into RTFs, open them in Word pad, and can thereby pretty much do whatever I want with them.

What is the Logfile Stripper (no jokes please)? I might go that route instead of continuing to use it to edit the match comments....At least until Oliver puts Word Wrap functionality into TNM.
SykoholicPosted on 07/31/06 at 08:46:59

Odd.... I'm not seeing it listed in the downloads section at the TNM7 site.  It must be considered "outdated".

Anyways, the Logfile Stripper is a utility that takes your logfiles, cleans them up, and then seperates and saves each match as an individual txt/rtf document.  It creates a folder called "LOGFILES" in your circuit folder and saves the logs there.  So it's simply a matter of opening the TNM folder, open your circuit folder, open the LOGFILES folder, and booya.... there's your matches, all cleaned up and saved as seperate txt files.  Open them in Wordpad or whatever and start editing to your heart's desire.  Add intros, commentary, interviews, spots, ambushes, commercials, whatever.  Since it's txt/rtf, you can even cut-paste into an HTML editor and you've got instant webpage if you want.

Here's a sample if you're interested: http://brawl.fateback.com/nodq.html

Try shooting Oliver an email and see if he'll send you a copy or else make it available for download.

The only thing you really have to watch is file names.  The Stripper names and saves the matches by number... 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.  If you have saved logfiles from previous cards, it will overwrite them.  Obviously, the fix is to simply re-name your saved files before running the Stripper again.

Hey, if anybody finds this file anyplace, post a link here- sounds useful!
SykoholicPosted on 08/01/06 at 03:28:08

I have a copy of it but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to "share" it.  If I can get an "ok" from Oliver, I'll try to make it available.
