Lucha TNM Circuits

How come there are little to no lucha circuits being posted? I think it'd be an interesting change to see some lucha and even some puro style circuits being posted.

AAA or CMLL would be fun. AAA might be easier since the promotion has started to go away from strictly 2 out of 3 falls matches.

Because not enough people are familiar with the product probably.  A lot of people here probably like lucha libre and puro in theory, but either don't really have the interest or means to really get into it and emerse themselves like they do with say WWE, TNA, and american indies.  I mean, I love lucha libre and puro, but I can't speak spanish and don't really feel like finding out all the back story and angles that are currently running so I wouldn't really be able to make a good lucha product, and if I were to put a lucha product out on the boards i'd want it to be authentic, not just American style with a bunch of 2-out-of-3 falls matches and lucha de apuestas matches.  Same with puro except that I'm just not nearly as up-to-date on puro as I was a few years ago.

Long story short: Because El Dandy said so.  And really HRS... who are you to doubt El Dandy? ;)

I don't think an understanding of spanish is necessary. Also, I don't think it is necessary to stay true to how lucha libre is portrayed in Mexico. AAA seems to be moving away from traditional lucha libre matches (2/3 Falls) to 1 fall matches.

Cibernetico is like the HHH of AAA apparently too.

I think it'd be interesting to see a different take on the product. Maybe even put a spin on things and say the WWE decided to branch out to a fourth brand and bought AAA. Considering how the WWE is handling ECW right now, it'd be a good excuse for a circuit writer to book AAA their way.

Galavision also has three showings of AAA throughout the weekend. Three hours no less, and it's not Nitro like where it just drags on. It's pretty entertaining...Even though I can't understand the announcers. Come to think of it, sometimes I can't understand the WWE announcers so it's no different.

I could've sworn someone posted a lucha libre style promotion recently.

I've actually given a thought to a lucha libre promotion, but I don't feel like I could do it justice. While I'm familiar with some lucha stars, especially Dr. Wagner Jr. (but mainly because of his run in Japan), I don't think I know enough about each wrestler to do it.

You wouldn't have to necessarily do all the six-man captains falls and 2/3 falls matches they do, though. You could do it American style since it IS a fantasy promotion.

The lack of such circuits is really related to a variety of factors. Let's discuss some of them, shall we?

1.) Fanbase
-Someone already touched upon this, but really the fanbase for both is relatively small in the US (and I would suppose likewise in the UK) to have a lot of people interested in it. Now, I still say a good circuit is a good circuit, regardless of what style it is. But certainly people will be turned off if they don't know who the wrestlers are. Speaking of the wrestlers...

2.) Lack of Updates
-This is a bigger problem for lucha than puroresu. Still, it took forever to even get let's say a young lion Taguchi and by the time there was one, he had already done his foriegn excursion and it was outdated. The overall popularity of TNM isn't what it once was due to things like EWR/TEW, where you pretty much just get a template to run on. Most people like things easy, so its no surprise it has ended up this way. That means there are less people to contribute to the TNM cause. Let's face it too - very few people have a comprehensive understanding on exactly how to integrate their own creations into the program. I mean, how long did it take most people to discover in FE that the first move had to be one out of a running situation? And even if you got the FE system down, the SE system tweaked the attributes so nothing is the same. Granted, its more in depth now, but Oliver isn't around enough like in the old days to point people in the right direction on things. I really think Oliver or someone who has mastered the inner working of the program should design a guide solely around wrestler creation.

3.) The Program Itself
-TNM pretty much still plays like a late 90's wrestling sim. It doesn't affect most styles much, but it definitely does impact things which are supposed to be fast paced, lucha-style wrestling. The Captain's fall is a nice addition as far as accurately simming a lucha promotion, but the lack of lucha tag rules really hampers this. Its hard to have a match be fast paced when you have to go through a ring out count (and for lucha, it should be 20, which is even more annoying). That is why lucha has so many multi-person tag matches; with the rules applied, there is ALWAYS something going on and it makes for a very fun experience. I have a bunch of created lucharesu guys on Fire Pro that I'd love to import into TNM and do a circuit with, but with the system working as it does, it is just too hard.

And... that's all I have to say about that.

One thing to that, Impaler, and you make many good points, is that you can have the ref 20 count.  In the referee creation, it gives you the option to set for a 10 count or 20 count.  Your other points are well-founded though.

I'm quite aware of that. The point is it takes FOREVER to get through a twenty count in TNM with often nothing happening on the floor. Talk about killing the pace.
