Other sports simulators

Does anybody know where I could obtain a list of other sports simulators?  I have Baseball Mogul, which I enjoy, but I'd love to find a good college basketball simulator somewhere.  Any suggestions?

I can't answer your college basketball sim question, but my favorite sports simulator by far is Out of the Park Baseball.   Check it out at their web site, www.ootpdevelopments.com.  I've never played Baseball Mogul, but OOTP has been hailed by friends of mine as being better.

They also have a pretty neat boxing sim called Title Bout Champiosnhip Boxing  that I mess around with in between TNM binges and NBA Live marathons.

Ah, I was surfing the net, and I found a college basketball simulator at .400 Software Studios.
It's called Tournament Dreams and appears to be well-reviewed.

I noticed it too, but it seems to be from 2004, as they meshed with another company and formed Grey Dog Software that has a newer one.  I might give it a gamble when I get money soon.  Thanks though.

and I played a little of OOTP, and HATED it.  The interface and accessibility of it I found AWFUL.  I love Baseball Mogul, when it's not super buggy.  That's it's main problem.  In between bug fixes, it will cause a new bug.

Diamond Mind (http://www.diamond-mind.com) is still my favorite baseball simulator, but OOTP is fairly decent for a GM-style sim (I always thought of OOTP as EW to DMB's TNM).

Along this same line, does anyone know of a good NBA sim? I'd be especially interested in something with an historical database of teams.

If it's still there, pwse.net used to have many Sims in their links section, including sports. This site is kind of shady, and are a bit anti-TNM, so just watch yourself.

They gave TNM full marks, where's the anti bit?

About a year to a year and a half ago, they had a cracked version up on their site...or something to that regaurd....and were pissed when Oliver mentioned something. I just remember reading the TNM bashings in the message boards. Meanwhile, so completely encourage Adam Ryland..

Either way, it was back a way, and has probably long since been forgotten. Oliver's probably the only one here who knows the true story. Just figured I'd give a heads up though.

I've found a few simulators to be very good and more importantly, fun and easy to play.

For football, XOR NFL Challenge is still my favorite football game. It is solely available on abandonware sites now (Home of the Underdogs for one) as it hasn't been made since 1991. It's strictly a coaching game although if you are careful you can edit game files to create your own teams and such. For a game created in 1985 the gameplay is still among the best for any football simulator. The graphics are simple but should certainly be sufficient for TNM fans. I am slowly working on organizing an NFL Challenge e-fed although setting up the teams can be fairly tedious.

A baseball game I really like is the free Strategic Baseball Simulator http://sbs-baseball.com/. Although fairly simple it seems to come up with more realistic results more often than a lot of expensive baseball simulators. As in NFL Challenge you also can edit files to change things in the game.

Both the XOR NFL Challenge and the Strategic Baseball Simulator give you the options of playing human vs human, human vs computer or computer vs computer.

XOR also made a college basketball game for one year but I could never get it to function at a realistic game speed, even trying moslo or other pc slowing programs. Halftime scores were well over a 100 points for each team.

I can also highly recommend the Generally racing simulator . It seems simple at first but gets to be addicting. You can create your own drivers, tracks and cars or download those others have created (some quite good). Little details in the game and lots of options for play make it a great game whether you just want to fool around when you're tired or want to get really involved.

You may want to check out the Courtside College Basketball game.  A former co-worker of mine bought this and it was fairly accurate.

Lance Haffner games at one time was working with OOTP in their development as well, as far as their baseball game goes.

Joe

Could you tell me how you got XOR NFL game to work.

I DL from Home of the Underdogs and unziped to my C drive and checked c drive as where the team disks were..

But it just goes ahead and crashes to desk top after the coin flip....Is there a name of folder it is looking for? or anthing you could tell me to try..

Also The baseball game is pretty cool..I still play High Heat 2001 as a couple of us edit the .exe file to have it say players names from the sixties..We also edit the sound files, Unifroms and stadiums..But SBS is still fun for a change, with all the seasons you can use and add stadium pictures etc..

Thanks for the cool info about these games, as i use to own the XOR game when it came out, it cost alot back then..

The best NFL simulator is Front Office Football.

I would strongly discourage Grey Dog Software's football games.  I can't speak for their other games, though.
