Round Robin problem

UnrightPosted on 09/23/05 at 02:18:20

I'm running a WCW circuit and the tag belts are currently vacant. I started a Round Robin tournament to determine who the top two contenders who would fight for the belt on the end of month PPV.

Here are the current standings (right-aligned for ease of viewing):

Tag Team Title Round Robin
==========================
1. Kronik (Brian Adams/Bryan Clark)                        15 ( 3: 1: 0)
2. The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner/Scott Steiner)       10 ( 2: 1: 0)
   The Screamin' Demons (Norman Smiley/The Demon)          10 ( 2: 2: 0)
   The Dancing Fools (Alex Wright/Disco Inferno)           10 ( 2: 3: 0)
5. The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs/Jerry Sags)                 7 ( 1: 2: 1)
   The Re-Enforcers (Allan Funk/Mike Sanders)               7 ( 1: 2: 1)

The remaining matches I have left are:

Kronik vs Nasty Boys
Screamin's Demons vs Steiner Brothers
The Re-Enforcers vs Steiner Brothers

Problem is Golberg just injured Rick Steiner on my last card. He'll be out for 4 cards. I have 2 cards (a Nitro & a Thunder) until the PPV.

Storyline-wise it makes perfect sense for Lex Luger to step in Rick Steiner's place to continue the tournament.  Luger's got a grudge against Brian Adams. Problem is, there's no way to edit the Round Robin tournament to allow a substitute partner. So there'll always be an unfinished round robin sitting in the circuit.

I guess I'll just calculate it by hand. Just bugs me that the round robin feature is so inflexible.

Anybody else have round robin problem stories?

I agree that the round robin feature could use a little more flexability with regard to substitutions.

Here's how I've worked around injuries in  tag team round robins in the past:

I used TweakCirc to edit the injury and take the wrestler off the injured list.  Then I temporarily reduced the wrestler's circuit-specific push value so that he was not at "full strength."  I then ran an angle where the wrestler's tag team partner was going to forfeit their portion of the round robin, but the "injured wrestler" came out against doctor's orders to fulfill his commitment in the tournament.  This added a nice "underdog" story to the remainder of the tournament.

I even went so far as to remove the "active, but injured" wrestler's finisher in addition to lowering his push, thus making him a virtual jobber.

I like that, making a less-effective version of the wrestler to simulate wrestling with an injury. Pretty good idea!

What you could have done prior to starting the round robin was to remove the injury factor temporarily.
