Beware of people asking for codes

Rick GarrardPosted on 08/16/05 at 06:34:26

There is a person on AIM the last two days that has been begging several of us here for TNM7SE codes.  He is currently using the "spiderdevilbit" AIM name.  Do NOT under any circumstances give your TNM codes to ANYONE... EVER!
ZedjaPosted on 08/16/05 at 07:05:11

Why should we? I mean we PAYED for these codes.

Apparently someone here did give this guy codes, or so he claimed.  I sincerely hope that no one would do such a thing as Oliver's work is worth way more than free.

Some people seem to think that they're entitled to anything they want for free. ::)  The kid talked to me and shared some sob story about how he bought First Edition, then two weeks later Oliver announced SE.  I told him that was a shame, and that there was an upgrade discount, plus that if he had told Oliver what had happened when it did, he might have been able to help him out or give him a special deal.  Instead he waited for a couple years then tried to get someone to steal it for him.

When I told him that under no circumstances would I do so, he called me stingy and signed off.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ;D

Yes.  Stinginess is what makes us not steal from people we like and respect after receiving god knows how much free tech support, fairly frequent upgrades, and even a special deal or two on plugins for frequent buyers.  We're so STINGY for not breaking the law and stabbing Oliver in the back after all he's done for us!

Riiiight.

Yet another reason to remind me why I keep my AIM a secret and only give it out to people I want to talk to.

Thanks a lot for your support, guys!

Like you said, if the guy had contacted me, he'd have known that if you owned TNM 7 FE, you got the upgrade to SE *plus* an upgrade to TweakCirc SE for $8.95... this was announced to the mailing list in late June and posted here on the main page for... um... eight weeks =)
Tommy BrownellPosted on 08/16/05 at 23:55:50

Yes, but he absolutely REFUSED to pay for TNM7SE, when he waited TWO YEARS to buy FE, so that he could be SURE that it would be the last TNM.

Oy.

"Oh, you don't wanna buy it?  Then SURE I'll give it to you after I bought it."
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/17/05 at 08:57:37

Which is his prorogative. Just for the record: everybody who bought FE between April and June 2003 got SE for free... so technically, he's lying.

I was about to send him word file titled "codes" filled with unconfortable pictures.
