To retool or not to retool...

Here's a discussion topic, when running a circuit do you usually leave people as they are in real life, or do you give yourself the options that repromoters have and try and retool or completely change someone's gimmick?  This includes name changes, finisher changes, ect.

Personally, I pretty much always allow myself free lisense to do whatever the fudge I want.  That doesn't mean I go on a spree of changing people, but I don't hesitate to do it if it's what I want.

Anyone else?

To start I leave them with their original character but through time I make their character evolve into the flow of the circuit.

I sometimes retool characters to something that would fit better in my circuit, or to gimmicks I feel are better than they currently have. Prime examples are Randy Orton in IWA, who was a indy-hating heel, feeling he was better than the rest.

I also once made Lance Hoyt the bodyguard of Kevin Nash, aptly calling him Diesel II.

I do the same as TerryFunka with this one.  I usually bring people in as their most well-known character and then from their change them to best fit the circuit.
