Need Help With WWF/WCW/ECW 2001 Feds

blslivewirePosted on 04/08/05 at 04:02:51

I'm starting three new circuits [ECW, WCW & WWF] starting where they left off in early 2001 when ECW went under and Vince bought WCW. Or as I refer to it, the, "The Year Wrestling Died."

My plan is to pick up where they left off, having three competing circuits and change that stupid Austin as a hell angle.

What I need is help finding out the WCW roster and champions at the point of their last show. I also would appreciate it if anyone remembers some of the major storylines that were going on and the exact date of the last show.

If my memory serves me correctly, the last official WCW show was a March PPV but it wasn't called Uncensored. Other than that, I'm stumped.

I'd greatly appreciate anyone pointing me in the eight direction.

Look at the title histories on http://www.wrestling-titles.com or http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com for the champions.  I was looking around out of boredom not too long ago and I think I remember Rhyno being the last TV & world champ in ECW and Booker T being the last World and US champ in WCW, but I don't remeber who might have been WCW's last TV champ.  Anyway, either of those two sites should offer some help as far as last champs go.  Obsessed with wrestling has event results too, so those should help give you a good idea of who was around at the time and possibly even some storylines.

The WCW TV Title was inactive at the time. I believe the Cruiserweight Champ was Shane Helms, the Tag Champs were Palumbo/O'Haire and the Cruiserweight Tag Champs were Mysterio/Kidman. Mamushi is correct about Rhino and Booker being dual champions. I think the ECW Tag Champs were Doring/Roadkill, but I'm less sure about this one.

One thing to note, though, Booker won the WCW Title at the last Nitro, which technically was a WWF sponsored event. If you choose to ignore that then Scott Steiner would be the WCW World Champion.

You also might want to check out this site:

...which has recaps of all of WCW's shows from that year. It should give you an idea what angles were running at the time.

Actually the TV title was being defended on WCWSN by "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan who found it in the trash after Scott Hall threw it away.  He defended against Steven (William) Regal, Robert Gibson, Fidel Sierra...lots of stiff competition.  He did defend it on one Thunder against the Barbarian as well.  Doring and Roadkill were the tag champions at the time when ECW went under.

Yes, Duggan was the last WCW TV Champ, but if we're talking about 2001, that title had been abandoned for all intents and purposes. WCWSN had been canceled in late 2000, and there were no title defenses after that as far as I know.

Good point.  I don't remember when it was he defended on Thunder but one title defense doesn't really count...unless your talking about the WWF Lightweight title and Gillberg!

Thanks for all the info guys. Now I just have to figure out how to book with that cluttered WCW roster. I see some pink slips in the very near future.  :'(
