NWJ Dojo Rules

CarlzillaPosted on 03/09/05 at 13:33:00

It was suggested that I post these overhere a while back and I managed to overlook it some how.

These guidelines are what I use to bring fantasy wrestlers into a fed dominated by mostly real wrestlers while still keeping their debut stats low enough to make them a convincing rookie.

* I start each student with 90pts divided between stamina, workrate, charisma. They all start with a 50 push.

Then I create a seperate circuit (NWJ DOJO in this case), in it I pit the students against one another. They have 1 match a day 7 days a week.

For each pinfall or submission victory they score they score 1 pt. then both competitors get an additional number of points based on the number of stars the match earned rounded down...with 0 being the minimum (so a -** match will not subtract already earned points).

So if they put on a * 1/2 star the winner would get 2 extra pts. total and the looser would get one extra point total.

At the end of every week the students have an iron man match with each pinfall or submission being worth 1 pt. After the iron man match I take the weeks worth of points and raise their attributes with them. They may raise anything accept for push which must remain at 50 while in training.

After one month They have accumulated all the points they are going to be able to recieve in the DOJO (I know this seems quick, but if I let it go longer they recieve to many points and don't fit in as a rookie in the big leagues.) and I choose one to graduate...the other may be kept in the dojo (if I like his concept) or dropped (if I got sick of him during the training). The graduate has his push raised to 70 to fit in better in the circuit.

Just thought I would post this, as it seems like something that some people may enjoy. Feel free to use and abuse these as you see fit.

How many guys do you start out with?

Do the guys not graduating accumulate more points if they continue training in the dojo? Or do you start out with a completely new batch of workers?

I really want to try this idea with IWA:NE, but I think I will use more than a month for graduation.. after all... I only run 1 show a month, while NWJ run more often.

Let me ask you a question.. how many points did your first graduate manage to accumulate?

Edit:

I started out a school for IWA:NE just now.. I plan on graduation in six months.. so I am doing 1 match a week, 1 Iron match a month... that would be a total of 30 matches before graduation.. which is quite similar to NWJ Dojo's 32...

Edit # 2 - All of my first 5 matches got a -***** rating... I think my students will be here a lot more than six months!

when i ran my school all my students got real low ratings (usually -**** to -*****) but once they graduated & competed against established stars they got better matches.

Since i tried this with abiout 6 trainees, I also added another 12 days:
a week of tag team matches with different partner combinations & 5 days of matches against "trainers" (guys like Al Snow, Bill Demott, & Hardcore Holly) just to help out if a guy didn't score well during the original 32 days.

I <3 U, Carl.

You just saved me the trouble of actually coming up with some decent rules for progressing fantasy/rookie guys from my DOJOS/Schools. I'll tweak them for my own purposes, of course, but it's a great base. Thanks.

All of the NWJ guys I am training start with very low -* matches too...I think the first couple of matches where anywhere from -*** to -****. But trust me the match quality will come up over time. I'm glad to see that some people are using the rules. Let me know how your graduates turn out, and you can check out the first product of these guidelines. Eiji Ogoya, by reading my NWJ curciut either on the GWA boards (the link is in my sig) or over on the TNM boards...the GWA NWJ board get updated more frequently.

Also let me know what kind of changes you guys are making. I might try them out as well, as these are just some basic guidelines.

I started with 2 guys.

Yes, but realisticly. If they put on a great 45 min match they might earn some extra stamina, if they put on a 4 or 5 star match maybe some workrate. The amount really depends on the situation.

I really want to try this idea with IWA:NE, but I think I will use more than a month for graduation.. after all... I only run 1 show a month, while NWJ run more often.

That would work too...the basic idea is that after more than about 30 shows the workers have accumulated too many points, and it looks fake when they move up to the big leagues.

Let me ask you a question.. how many points did your first graduate manage to accumulate?
Ogoya managed about 65 pts. I have since added some stuff and moved some stuff around. So I'm not totally certain that this is 100% exact.

Sorry to clutter this post.. but.. Crpls? Who is the guy on your picture? I am watching an NJPW show and that guy is definetely in the ring now.. but as my Japanese is quite poor I have know idea what his name is..

rey619Posted on 03/10/05 at 23:04:08

The only time KENTA was ever on a NJPW show was back in 2002. He and Marufuji defend the NOAH Jr Tag Belts against a NJPW team last year, although I don't remember the exact date, but it was in NOAH.

The concept seems pretty cool! Think I may give it a shot.  Just curious though, (how) do you alter their stats once they're in the "big leagues"?  Do you change all your wrestlers stats as the circuit progresses?  And if so how?  (Sorry about all the questions, but the concept really intrigues me... thanks!  ;D!!)
CarlzillaPosted on 04/01/05 at 08:26:56

It depends on the circumstances. I have one instance of TNM installed which is only used for NWJ...and for that I do alter all the wrestlers stats. I don't really have any concrete rules for altering them after they graduate, but if you are looking at the matches with that in mind, the times when they should be raised will smack you in  the face, they are really that obvious. My guideline I guess is that if it isn't an obvious adjustment, don't make it.
