HTML Tree?

TerryFunkaPosted on 02/18/05 at 20:35:43

Are there any places that are easy to use when it comes to uploading the html tree besides having to upload 1 file at the time?

not sure what hosts you have looked at already but im sure alot of the free ones (geocities, fortunecity, etc) have the ability to upload via an FTP program which would allow you to upload as many as you needed to in 1 session.

Angelfire gives instructions for uploading via an FTP program.   Never tried it with other sites, but I would think Shaun is right in that most of the bigger ones will let you.  I used an FTP program called "FTP Surfer" which I downloaded for free from downloads.com.  It's freeware and in my opinion very easy to use.

As Shaun stated, most web space providers allow for users of FTP programs to upload multiple files at once.

Some providers such at free.hostdepartment.com even offer their own online uploading area that allows multiple files at one time as long as you use their web space.

And if you take a look at the private message I sent you, TerryFunka, you will see a link to a couple other programs that I found doing a search.  I have not used either one of the links I provided, but both look similar to the older software that I used for my sites, which is obviously no longer available or I would have sent you a link to it.

Hope this helps.

The biggest problem you will run into while using the FTP upload for multiple files is getting all the settings correct for upload to your web server, but once you have that, it should be smooth sailing from there.

If you're using Firefox, there's an extension called "FireFTP" that you can use, as well.

If you use Tripod, you can upload a zip file, which it will then extract for you onto your site.
