No-shows

If you are trying to run a WWE circuit, should you have no-shows enabled at all? I mean,  how often does a wwe wrestler no - show? Has it happened this past year? All I can think of is Chavo Classic no-showing a couple of house shows, but  has anybody ever no-showed a SD or RAW?

I remember Test and Stacy Keibler no-showed a RAW last year because they got snowed in.  So it's possible... just very rare.

I think Jeff Hardy might have missed a show or two too. Yeah, I never have no-shows turned on, but if you want to be realistic, switch them on and make the probability of it happening VERY low.

I don't use them personally but you could use them like what happened last week.  Spike Dudley and Billy Kidman missed a show in Chicago because of a snow storm.  So while I guess they "no showed" it wasn't them showing up.  You could always use excuses like that to explain no shows as well.

What I think I would do is either set the no show seed to a really high number making them extremely rare and explain then away with mostly planned no shows (ie. Missed flight, severe illness, family issues) and just certain wrestlers that are more trouble makers backstage just not showing up cause they are being a douche bag

Or leave it at or around the default setting that don't treat most no shows as no shows, write their not being in the arena into the storyline.  Sometimes wrestlers just aren't at the arena, even if they are part of a major storyline (doesn't seem to happen too terribly often anymore, but you know).  I'd say that if you do it that way, you could still have them appear "via satellite" too

Yeah, I think I will set it to a higher number than I would if I was booking an indy fed. I have always been under the impression that missed flights and such were rarer occasions in WWE due to better organizations. Of course, the WWE cannot fight mother nature either.

For now, I have used many explanations for no-shows. If it is possible to write it in the storyline (backstage attack forcing someone else to replace him), I do that. Sometimes I also just select the no-show wrestler to replace him (particularly the time someone (don't remember who), no showed a world title match).

I think WWE have less deliberate no-shows than the average Indy fed, after all when you're being paid the big money you're more inclined to go to work. But keep in mind the WWE travel around a lot more than Indy feds, most of which stay in the same place pretty much all year round, and so they're bound to have travel problems. sometimes it's just someone being late, but sometimes it's a no show

I'd say keeping it turned on would be best for realism, after all, like you said, you can always replace the no-shower with himself to undo the no-show if it's important

They have happened in the past and probably will again. Some might be by accident and some might even be scripted.

For example: Triple H might have a non-title shot against some low carder, but they write it as if Triple H thinks his opponent is so beneath him so why bother.

They can also write it as if a wrestler have been locked in a storage space or something and thus can't come to the ring.

Yeah, I know, but I always thought that a no-show message from TNM was actually that the wrestler didn't show up for the card. Something unbooked. If I wanted someone to be locked in a closet, beat down before the match or something, I would have booked a match with the replacement, and then done some segments where the original wrestler was made unable to wrestle.

I make it a poitn to de-push, job or even fire a wrestler for no-showing a PPV.
rey619Posted on 01/16/05 at 12:22:22

Yeah, that's what I want to do as well, but sometimes a no-show is legit. What I do is draw a card from a stack, and the higher the value, the better the reason (e.g. an Ace means family issues, 10 might mean a travel problem, a 2 might mean that he doesn't care).

It would have been a nice added feature if reasons for no-shows were given, maybe with an editor to make your own reasons.

I personally dis-like the no-show feature, because each card, at least 2 wrestlers will "no-show"...so I just lave it off.

How many wrestlers do you have working on a card?  Because by default there is a 1 in 80 chance of each wrestler no-showing.  The only way I could see you getting at least 2 per show is to hold absolutely massive cards or to have made the no show seed smaller to try to make it happen less often.  If memory serves, this actually makes no-shows more likely, while making the number larger makes them rarer.
