Favorite angles...

americamamushiPosted on 11/07/04 at 20:12:51

Obviously alot of people run circuits just for themselves and don't post the results online.  So, everyone share their favorite current (or at least fairly recent) angle that happened in their circuit and/or one from the past that has always held a special place in your heart.  I'll start...

Current: I have Scott D'Amore managing Petey Williams.  D'Amore's ultimate goal is to have a Canadian be world champion and that responsibility lies on Williams as he is the only Canadian on the roster right now.  Williams (heel) is having a series of matches with Nunzio (also heel) for the vacant world title so I turned Williams face and D'Amore left him.  Now D'Amore needs a new Canadian wrestler to manage to the title.  Not hiring anyone new he sets his sights on David Flair. :)  Obviously David Flair isn't Canadian, a fact which Flair has stated to D'Amore to which he got the reply of "Shhhh!"  Hilarity will hopefuilly insue as Flair tries to remember to act Canadian.

Past:  A little while after I was in training I ran an indy circuit using the guys I knew from LsWO and a few other local regulars.  I was using Jimmy Jacobs (even then, how could I not) because I always had this great idea for him ever since he started training at LsWO too.  It was perfect, it was funny... and I can't remember if I ever pitched it to him.  Jacobs (Then as "The Big Bully" Jimmy Jacobs) would get amnesia... and start acting like Hulk Hogan.  So I decided since I wasn't going to be owning my own indy fed or in a position to write for one anytime soon that I'd book it on TNM.  To me and my friends, it was a beautiful idea.  And I think it turned out pretty funny on my TNM as well.

*sigh* those were the days. ;D

From the past:

I joined one of the "umbrella feds" late in it's existence.  I decided to have some fun with it and took a BUNCH of guys NO ONE was using or would use.  I came up with the motto "We strive for negative five" for the fed and hired the likes of Dave Sullivan, Jim Duggan and The Iron Shiek.  The angle that I had was that the Iron Shiek was my top champion.  The first card I ran, Shiek lost the title to Duggan.  They came back for week two and due to some explained circumstances outside of the ring, the Iron Shiek again was the champion.  And again Duggan won the title from him on the second week.  Shiek somehow got the title back again in the time between cards and Duggan on week 3 again won the title.  It was an on-going joke within that circuit.

There was also a great angle I did in my Memphis TV Studio wrestling circuit where a masked wrestler was to get a title shot.  Another wrestler was banned from wrestling completely.  This wrestler stole the masked man's gear and then went on to win the title.  Not wanting to be stripped of the title, the original masked man refused to tell on the guy that stole his gear, mainly because it was his arch rival.  Eventually they ended up having a mask vs mask match in which the original won the title from the fake.  And the loser was revealed to be the arch enemy and was again banned from the fed.  Pretty fun angle to read.

Current/Recent:

For pure wrestlecrap, I'd have to say Barry Windham/Dudley/Mercury's quest to have more names and personas than Ed Leslie in BCW.

As for current angle... in CW... Magnum TA, turns heel, blames Dusty for making him a Magnum PI look alike a and joins the Horsemen... Then the Horsemen turn face and help Dusty Rhodes and leave Magnum now known as Terry Allen.  I'd explain more, but I don't want to ruin where it is gonna go in the future.

Current:

I'd have to say Shaniqua's love sage with Shelton Benjamin, and the Booker T/Goldust stuff.

Past:

I really don't know.  GLW's Extremists stable was always a lot of fun (Lance Storm, Ace Darling, Devon Storm, Toshiaki Kawada, Rik Ratchet) but I for some reason can't remember any specific stories right now.  Hrm... don't I suck?

Current:
Bret Hart vs Vince McMahon.. in my WWE circuit, Teddy Hart is a major player, and has challenged Shawn Michaels to a match for Survivor Series, seven years after the Montreal Screwjob. I also brought in Bret Hart to have his revenge on Vince. I try to run the circuit as realistic as possible, and to have Bret fight Shawn wouldn't have worked. I don't really know if it's possible to have Bret fight Vince in his present condition, but it is not that far-fetched. I haven't managed to build the proper feud as good as I hoped I would, but this feud really excites me because it's an angle I think would have scored a lot of PPV buyrates in real life.

Past:
In a short-lived umbrella I ran a women's fed and had this stable with Japanese wrestlers led by AJA Kong who ran rampant. Trish, Lita and a couple others tried to stop them, but failed. The angle ran for the entirety of the umbrella (about two months) and ended in an Elimination match where the Japanese won 5-1 I think.. hehe..

I also had a circuit that consisted of friends and family and stuff where my friend did an angle with his family, ending up in a towel match against his dad. That feud was quite great.

Current Gimmick is a toss up its either of these

- "Classic" Colt Cabana vs. "The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes from my GWC circuit which has been gaining some positive feedback. Dusty has always been good about helping put people over and Dusty is the ultimate fan favorite in this fed, his alliance with America's Most Wanted has helped James Storm become a major player and the feud with Cabana is going to take a turn you wouldn't believe, but I don't want to ruin it for you...

- In another circuit I am running, I went with a completely random roster and thus everyone added has been added with the "m" key. Jerry Lawler is the one wrestler I signed before they let me begin with the cards. He is currently my PWA World Champ and has gathered quite a stable named
The Royal Family:
"The King" Jerry Lawler
"Sir" Scott Taylor
"The Royal Watchdog, The Pitbull" Rocky Romero
and "The Royal Jester" Spanky

they had an alliance with "The Shiek" Sabu. They did his bidding for a few months. Eventually a group came together called
The Rising:
Led by Owen Hart
Masato Tanaka
and Sean O'Haire

the battles were very intense and a **** 1/2 title match between Lawler and Hart was the icing on the cake. Currently The Royal Family got into an ongoing battle with Randy Savage. He called for a War Games match. Savage enlisted the help of Ace Steel's version of The Second City Saints (Along with "Livewire" Chris Vaughn and The Big Show). The Royal Family won but Scott Taylor suffered a broken back and during his injury was released from the company. Romero then got fed up with Lawler and had a string of **** matches that gave him credibility in the circuit but he was unable to take the title from Lawler.

In my WWE Fed I think the feud between Raw and Smackdown is coming across pretty good and that everyone wants to be representing their brand.

In one of my many GWF feds it would be the ECW invasion.  I think it is possibly my best fued.  The only thing I regret was putting "Gene Bennett" in the angle instead of a real wrestling personality.  Anyway it was The Dudleys' (all three including Spike, who was the World Champ) taking on Scott Steiner, Sting and Booker T.  It was an elimination cage match where if you were pinned you were cuffed to the cage.  Well Team WCW lost and it was because of a masked man who turned out to be Paul Heyman.  Anyway it began a WCW vs. ECW feud.  I think that who fed was my best to date.  You can still read it if you would like at:

Again just forget the Gene Bennett crap, shouldn't have had "me" involved.

Currently... not sure, I seem to be in a between phase for everyone. I'm quite liking how Brian Pillmans digression is coming along. I hadn't originally planned it to be main eventing, but it seems to be working. I'm also digging Kurt Angles pro-American heel character - it's the sort of thing that seems really obvious, but nobody, anywhere, ever, seems to have done it (the closest I can think of is the Fabulous Rougeaus, but we were supposed to believe that they never meant their American patriotism).

In the past, the best stuff I wrote, in my opinion, was the Team Matt angle which ran over the course of a year (featuring Commissioner Matt Hardy, Shane Douglas, Jim Brunzell, Tom Zenk, Jeff Hardy and Paul Roma) but that wasn't so much an angle as a series of character progressions, several small angles and a good heel stable. The final blowoff after Jeff took Brunzell, Zenk and Roma away to form his own group and resulting in a Survivor Series match was one of my all-time favourite angles though, where Matt Hardy gathers up his own team for the match (dubbed the "War of Mattrition") and introduces five mystery partners - Ken Mattera, Mattanka, One Matt Gang, El Mattador and Ultimatt Warrior. How I laughed.

For an actual good straight wrestling storyline though, I always liked the Triple H/Shawn Michaels feud (done before the WWE did it to death) where the two friends squared off for the title, Shawn defending. DDP and Kanyon interfered and jump Hunter. Shawn, rather than take the easy pin, lept to the rescue and cleared them from danger. Hunter recovers, then DDP and Kanyon nail Shawn. Hunter, rather than defend his friend right away, takes the easy pin for the title and THEN chases off the baddies. Shawn is pissed with Helmsley for taking the win after he sacrificed the match in the same situation, Hunter apologises but says he had to take the win any way he could. What I always loved about this one is the response I got - four people gave their opinions on it, two siding with Trips' point of view, two siding with Shawns. Shawn eventually went heel and the angle went into overdrive as after the second match, the two spent an entire year feuding before they faced again in the big, final blowoff match.

That's why you need to send me your old stuff so I can read those gems.  Ass.

My favorite angle is obviously the unfinished First Family of Wrestlign feud with Raven, Sting, Daffney, Crowbar and Vampiro, which was all intended to be one big chapter in Sting's last year of wrestling.

Alas, I never finished it...and now, there's no one left to care that it's unfinished.  =P
