Title reigns...

Snabbit888Posted on 08/30/04 at 07:44:50

Being the huge stats dork I am, I'm a huge fan of titles histories and the number of title reigns a wrestler has had.  In either current or past circuits:

1) What is the most number of times a wrestler or tag team has held a title?

2) What is the most title reigns of any kind a wrestler has had in a circuit?

I believe my answer to both questions is my old Extremists tag team, Ace Darling and Devon Storm, held my Great Lakes Wrestling World Tag Team Titles on four occasions, the longest reigns I believe only being about 4 months.

Well I guess you've seen my title histories by now, but for the puposes of the topic...

1) Billy Kidman is a 5 time DWF cruiserweight champion. Not bad considering he's the reigning world champ right now. His first cruiserweight title reign remains the longest title reign of any sort at 482 days.

2) Kidman again, with 5 cruiser, 2 IC tag and 1 world, closely followed by Chris Benoit of 4 world and 3 tag.

Funny all that, I never planned for Kidman to be a massive star, but things work out in strange ways.

I can't get Kenny Kaos to drop the belt.  It's been about seven months now.

I have to admit, I like him keeping the title for a long reign, unlike the TV title which seems to exchange hands on a weekly basis.

That I can remember of the top of my head...

1) I had Arn Anderson has an 8 time world champ (unbooked).  And it wasn't even like the circuit had gone on for a really long time, if I remember right it went 1 show a week for almost 2 and a half years TNM time.  Arn just kept losing it and winning it back... and then he decided "Well, since GNW has been ever so nice to me and let me hold the title so many times... I think I'll just quit right after I win the belt from Ric Flair and they're setting up an epic feud that will tear JJ Dillon apart and has only been their plans for quite some time"  ... bastard... ;)

2) Other than the 8 time world champ above, I think Chris Benoit.  He held 7 titles over the course of I can't remember how long.  2 time world champ, 2 time Canadian Champ, 1 time USA champ (Unified the belts into the North American Championship, making him the 1 time champ of that, but I wont count it since its two unified belts and he unified them) 1 time tag champ (w/Larry Destiny, kudos if you know who he is) and once won the All Japan Triple Crown at WWS event though he wasn't supposed to. ;D (The descicion was later thrown out by AJPW because they decide when the title is on the line and not the champion, but I'll still count it since he made one defense of the title)
