August TNM Monthly Survey

Owen Hart, RIPPosted on 08/04/04 at 22:17:23

I am starting something new where I post a survey/questionaire every month in this forum regarding your TNM usage:

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?
15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud
91Posted on 08/04/04 at 22:24:21

I book my circuit, so most of this isn't a case of what TNM threw up at me, it's what I chose to throw up myself.

And I'm not talking about regurgitation.

My circuits are usually booked too. But even when you book a match sometimes those matches go beyond the time you chose to end them for example I recently booked a match to end at 60 minutes and it ended up going to 64 minutes
91Posted on 08/04/04 at 22:38:21

True, though 4 minutes is hardly something to worry about. But I'm talking more the upsets, unless you're including stuff I've booked.

Worst... Sean O'Haire/Kane fued that just went on way too long.
Critic of the DawnPosted on 08/04/04 at 23:19:53

1) Sickest Bump:  A while back I programmed a special hardcore match with FCA Cubed with quite a few more details and locations than the default Falls Count Anywhere.  If memory serves, in one of the tests I recall a pair of wrestlers brawling into the street outside of the arena and one of them getting hit by a car.

2) Non Title Upset:  Several years ago I recall my singles champion tapping out to a side headlock applied by a midcarder 13 or so seconds into a match.

3) Non Title Tag Team Upset:  Well, towards the start of NDW I was surprised that Kevin Nash and The Undertaker did so poorly as a tag team.  The Briscoe Brothers upset them several times if I recall correctly.

4) Wrestlers unexpectedly getting over:  I've had A-Train in several circuits, and each time he's managed to get at least moderately over as a midcard to upper midcard monster heel despite his low stats.

5) **** Matches you felt should have been better: Probably a few, yeah.  None come to mind, though.

6) ***** Matches you felt were overrated: I don't recall exactly what it was, but I saw a handicap match involving Diesel, Masato Tanaka, and one other decent but not amazing guy reach *****, and this was in First Edition before high ratings got easier to get.  That was a real shock.

7) Singles title upset:  I never expected Chance Beckett to upset Edge for the Global Heavyweight Title in NDW.  That was completely out of left field.

8) Tag Title Upset: I've seen a few, but no specifics come to mind.

9) Wrestlers you hate and won't push: No.  I base my pushes on a combination of ratings and overness.  Even if I don't care for a guy, I'll still push them.  I'll just hope that someone beats them.

10) Longest TNM Match:  I once booked a pinfall only battle royal with 50 participants that lasted 9 hours and 51 minutes.

11) Surprisingly Good Champion: Back in the day I had randomly picked Kensuke Sasaki to be in my circuit.  He worked well in the tag team division, and then unexpectedly won the World Title.  Surprisingly, he worked extremely well in a dominant Samoa Joe type role.

12) Most Dissappointing: One of my old circuits got its roster by me watching Heat and Velocity for 2 weeks and taking everyone there.  I was expecting Christopher Nowinski to be one of my biggest heels, but he almost never won despite a healthy push and failed to get over.  Odd.

13) Longest Title Reigns & Unbeaten Streaks: A looooong time ago I recall Shinya Hashimoto and Bret Hart (champions in competing circuits) both going for ages without losing.  Both of those titles were very prestigious, but the main event scene got dull enough that I eventually dropped the circuits.

14) Best and Worst Angles: I really got a kick out of the "feud" between Red & Funaki and Julio Dinero & A-Train.  It produced some great angles even if it didn't end in a match because Funaki thought A-Train smelled very very bad.  Dinero's unexpected Rumble in the Bronx victory also played into this.  I'm also digging the "Who Stole the Ladder" bit I'm presently running.  As for bad angles... nothing noteworthy springs to mind.  I suppose Jamie Noble getting drunk off his ass and proclaiming that he was king of the world while standing on a chair as Sean O'Haire looked on was kind of bad because of how out of character it was, but it had the advantage of making me crack up every time I thought about it.

15) Best and Worst Feuds:  I've got a soft spot for the continuing Edge/Matt Hardy feud in NDW, and for the Edge/Royal Court feud that preceded it.  My lengthy Maven/Nowinski feud in NWA Keystone was pretty bad.  The matches were poor, and Nowinski just didn't get over no matter what I did with him.

OK Here is my own answers

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

Vader missing a moonsault from the top of a steel cage against Barry Horowitz of all people

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

Barry Horowitz over Vader in a pinfall only cage match after Vader missed a moonsault from the top of the steel cage, that really surprised me

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)
The Bushwhackers defeated Haas and Benjamin

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

Orlando Jordan...won the Royal Rumble, but it was turning heel and his feud with Jericho that really got him over (ended up winning the world heavyweight title in the process, and became the first and only man in my circuit to hold both the world title and be one half of the world tag champs at the same time (with Christopher Nowinski)

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

Kurt Angle vs. Chris Jericho ****3/4 (Iron Man Match)

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

Me, personally, there was one where The Bushwhackers were involved in against Vader and Bigelow where they got *****. It was years ago, and it was a Funeral Parlour Match (FCA cubed)

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

Orlando Jordan defeated Chris Benoit at WM to become the new World Heavyweight champion (I actually booked Benoit to win, and Jordan ended up with the win)

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?
The Overnight Express (Lenny Lane and Paul Roma) winning my old WCW tag titles from the then unbeated team of Raven and Sting

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

Jeff Jarrett

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

If you are talking battle royal/rumble then 9 hours and 56 minutes (it was 50 men royal rumble with pinfall only), the winner was nWo Sting, lol!

If you are talking about a regular match with no time limit, then 6 hours! Chris Benoit vs. Jyushin Lyger

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

D-Von Dudley (really surprised me with the quality of the matches he was in, a lot could be contributed to the quality of his opponents too though)

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

Tie: AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

Longest title reign: world champion D-Von Dudley, six months TNM time
Longest Unbeaten Streak: also D-Von Dudley

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

Best Angle: Kurt Angle (jk) No: my best angle would be my old eWo (Extreme World Order angle, ECW invasion angle  that I did way back in 1998)

Worst Angle: The who replaced Ric Flair's Viagra with laxitives angle (funny yet awfully bad)

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feudBest Feud: Chris Jericho vs. Orlando Jordan (was actually an awesome feud that really put Jordan over)

Worst Feud: King Kong Bundy vs. Big Boss Man (a worthless feud that went on way to long and went absolutely nowhere since both of the wrestlers ended up on the unemployment line before it really started to pick up steam. It did get slightly interesting in the end when Bundy defeated Boss Man in a loser leaves WWF match, Bundy managed to get slightly over, but ended up gone a couple weeks later himself after losing a loser leaves town match himself to Bam Bam Bigelow
americamamushiPosted on 08/05/04 at 03:35:09

Many of my answers will pertain to NWA: St. Louis since that seems to be the circuit my brain has been more focused on lately, unless there was a better answer that stands out in my mind from the past

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

It was an FCA match I made.  The wrestler (Mitsuhiro Matsunaga) went careening off a scaffold near the end of it and missed the ring on his way down, landing on an exploding barbedwire spidernet (in the match the wrestlers could go up and down the scaffold, but only win by throwing the opponent off)

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

Recently in NWA: St. Louis, Stan Lane beat Bruiser Brody with the savate kick.  Lane has been somewhat of a lowcarder with no direction, while Brody is obviously viewed as quite the monster.

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

NWA: St. Louis when Barry Windham & Tommy Rich (who have been feuding and not in the circuit very long) defeated seasoned NWA: St. Louis veterans Ric Flair & Ken Patera.

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

I'm kinda surprised that Stan Lane is over at the moment and I'm kinda surprised that while Ivan Koloff is, Nikolai Volkoff isn't.  Surprised Dick Slater isn't too.

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

Many of the matches in the Funk/Brisco feud.  Some Ted DiBiase matches too

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

None I can think of off hand (to my surprise there haven't been any 5 star matches in NWA: St. Louis yet)

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

NWA: St. Louis, Kendall Windham winning the Missouri title frmo Jack Brisco after only just starting his wrestilng career.  (Since Kendall debuted in 84 real time, I'm treating his appearance in my circuit as his premier as a wrestler) especially when i've been grooming Barry to (tnm willing) snatch the title away from Brisco.

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?

NWA: St. Louis, when Rocky Johnson & Kerry Von Erich, a team a formed just to fill brackets, won the vacant title.

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

Goldberg... oh wait, I never hire him, nevermind.  =
)  Yeah, though I try and work with what I'm given as well.  But like any real promoter, personal misgivings to come into play. ;D

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

None that lasted more than an hour and a half (that I can't think of)

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

Hmmm...  can't think of any off the top of my head.

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

I don't think I have anyone dissapointed me in my circuit at the moment

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

In NWA: St. Louis Gene Kiniski is at a streak of 8 wins (overall) and I think Dick Slater is my longest reigning champ, with Jerry BLackwell & Ken Patera (Heenan Family)having been the longest reigning tag champs

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

Hmmm... Doink the Clown (Matt Borne version) in the 4-Horsemen by accident... you could take that either way ;)

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

I had a great one in a circuit before with Great Muta & One of my wrestling personas (that is Great Muta-esque) feuding with Mitsuharu Misawa & Vader in a cross-promotion dealy.
CkzippyPosted on 08/06/04 at 03:22:23

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best angle?

My best angle/feud involves Dean Malenko & Christopher Daniels, and also has to do with Ken Shamrock & Chris Benoit.

My circuit (which is only a year old) began with a tournament to crowd its world champ.  Malenko & Shamrock made it to the finals of the tournament, but the alliance of Daniels/Benoit (known as 'Strictly Business') interfered against both wrestlers in the match, and Shamrock won the title after hitting Malenko w/ a baseball bat that Benoit supplied.

From there, Daniels went after Shamrock, and Benoit went after Malenko.  Daniels attempted to win the World Title but was unsuccessful, while Daniels & Benoit hated each other so much, it was decided that the circuit couldn't exist with both wrestlers in it.  So, a loser-leaves match was made, which Malenko won.

Malenko then goes after Daniels, but Daniels tells Malenko that the only way he's going to get to the World Title is through him.  Malenko lets bygones be bygones, and the NEW Strictly Business is born.

Daniels does guide Malenko to a World Title shot (against new champion Booker T), but the night of the big match, Malenko is injured and cannot compete.  Chris Daniels takes Malenko's place and wins the title.

When Malenko returns to action, he wants a shot at Daniels, but Daniels refuses to give it to him, saying that he won the belt for the both of them.  Eventually, it's discovered that Chris Daniels was the one who attacked Malenko.  Malenko is irate at Daniels and realizes that he never should've trusted him, and now is going full steam after Daniels.

Daniels does all he can to dodge Malenko, including giving title shots to two jobbers just to get out of having to face Malenko.  Daniels then says that Malenko can have a shot at the World Title if he wins a tournament, and despite Daniels attempting to sabotage Malenko every way he can, Malenko wins the tournament.

After a year of chasing, Dean Malenko finally wins the World Title from Christopher Daniels.

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

*** Nothing particularly comes to mind... I'm guessing something off a ladder/cage though.

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

*** I book, so it's hard to say.

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

*** Once again, I book.

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

*** Gran Hamada.  He had a 10-month World Title reign that was eerily, very very believable.  Still freaks me out to this day.

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

*** Plenty of times.  I can never seem to get matches over **** 1/4

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

*** No, because I hardly ever get ***** matches... the program hates me. :)

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

Gran Hamada winning Deadly Draw for the World Title

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?

*** Hrm... nothing comes to mind.

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

*** Not particularly, because if I don't like them, chances are I won't hire them to begin with.  I have enough trouble hiring and using everyone I like. :)

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

*** Battle royals have been known to go 3 or 4 hours.

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

*** Gran Hamada, like I said.  10-month reign, beat just about everyone.  It ruled.

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

*** My current circuit I'd say Ro Van Dam.  It's just getting to be so hard to use him anymore.  I think I have an angle for him to get over though, so we'll see.

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

Gran Hamada - World Title - 10 months
And in an old circuit, Scott Hall went undefeated for about a year, 45-0 or something like that.

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

*** Not really sure... nothing that stands out leaps and bounds above the rest.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

*** The same as 14.

What the hell, I'm bored until Top Gear starts.

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

None really. I once booked RVD into a hangman spot on barbed wire, that was about as sick as I've done.

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

Booking stuff makes it hard to really slate something as an upset. Scott Putski went over Jerry Lynn (whom I'll get to in a bit) a couple of times, and a recent win for Kidman over Lynn too was put across as a huge upset.

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

None whatsoever. With less tag teams than singles guys, most of which are put across as being roughly equal (think the late 80's WWF), you don't really get upsets.

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

Jerry Lynn was always supposed to be a mid-carder, IC title guy at best, then I stuck a character on him than REALLY caught on with me, and he quickly became the biggest name in my circuit by several country miles.

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

Not really. I was hoping for more from a Flair/Benoit iron man match which only got **** 1/4, but then iron man matches in TNM usually don't score much higher. And one match dissapointed me - the previous month, Eddie Guerrero and Devon Storm had gotten a surprise ***** match. On this PPV, with roughly the same time, they wrestled to a **** 1/4. Had it gotten full marks again, I would have had FIVE ***** in a row. That one always dissapoints me. Nor have I come close to that mark since.

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

My second iron man match, Benoit and Lynn, was overbooked a lot with several run-ins and such, yet it managed full marks. That surprised me a bit. And a tag match between the Hardys and Ted DiBiase and Barry Windham came out of left field.

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

None really.

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?

Still none.

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

I usually wouldn't bother hiring them, but Paul Roma as a token jobber has always been put across as a moron.

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

Ignoring iron man matches and royal rumbles, I once had a card where everything had gone a few minutes shorter than I'd intended, and found myself with 45 minutes left on a card with just a Benoit/Michaels match to go.

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

Not really, since I usually have everything planned out in advance when I give someone a title.

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

Steve Austin. I hate just copying peoples real life characters and being done with that (I have to add my own special touch before I care) and I never got a niche for Austin.

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

Jerry Lynn held the world title for 391 days, Curt Hennig and Owen Hart were tag champs for 433 days and Billy Kidman was cruiserweight champ for a mammoth 482 days. The former two were probably undefeated during that time and several months more before.

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

AHAHAHA! I could write a novel on the (deliberately) bad angles. I always had a soft spot for my Team Matt angle in which Matt Hardy lead his gang of idiots and hanger-ons to non-glory. That would be one of the good ones. Bad ones? We're looking at stuff like "Haiku Reading" Jeff Hardy, Demonic Paul Roma & Mean Street Posse, the Team Matt reunion and one idea I have which I might implement which involves a certain "celebrity" being put to death.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

The Triple H/Shawn Michaels feud (before they ever feuded in real life) was successfully run for eighteen months (before they feuded for eighteen months in real life) and made sense too, also kicking off a nice dilemna which had people on the old boards (well, four anyway) split as to who was in the right. The bad feuds all spill off the bad angles and bad characters. And I love them all.
AnubisPosted on 08/08/04 at 21:13:29

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

Big Kahuna (over 400 pounds) doing the Kahuna Bomb (a moonsault) on Mima Shimoda (under 150 pounds). OUCH!

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

Bill Miroun over The Keldon Warlord

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

None

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

Son of Sam has 66 Work Rate and 55 Charisma and he's on my "Who's HOT" list.

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?

Dawson Polaris over Jerry Dunvegan in a Cage Match. The referee was knocked out when Jerry escaped, and Dawson dragged him back in and eventually got the win. That only got **** 1/4, but it should have been *****.

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)

The Serial Killers (Gothic Wonder/Son of Sam) over Masato Tanaka and New Jack, Imperia Corporation (Bad Ass Brad Jones/Steve Liermann), and The Commandos (Adrian/Snake Eyes) was a Hardcore Four-Way Dance and basically ran like garbage wrestling, including low work rates for the defending champions (55 and 66 respectively for Gothic Wonder and Son of Sam), yet it got *****.

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?

Manami Toyota over Jimmy Dragon for the IWF Title

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?

None

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

No

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

Remember that Hardcore Four-Way Dance? The Serial Killers (Gothic Wonder/Son of Sam) over Masato Tanaka and New Jack, Imperia Corporation (Bad Ass Brad Jones/Steve Liermann), and The Commandos (Adrian/Snake Eyes)? The garbage wrestling that went to be *****? IT RAN FOR OVER THREE HOURS! What do you think of three hours of nonstop garbage wrestling?

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

Mima Shimoda as IWF Extreme Hardcore Champion

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

The Keldon Warlord

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

Longest Title Reign: Jerry Dunvegan was IWF Champion, 329 days

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

Best Angle: Imperia Corporation rules everything and is being fought by everyone.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

Best Feud: The Brotherhood v. Imperia Corporation
Shadow_MaxxPosted on 08/09/04 at 22:48:39

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?

can't remember the participants, but Guy #1 leaped out of the ring and knocked himself out. Guy #2 proceeded to execute a piledriver, a DDT, i think a jumping piledriver, and then his finisher, which was another head-based killer. I got rid of Guy #1 and declared him dead.

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

triple h. i hate that guy. i book the hogan/beefcake/savage triumvirate in "comedy" matches and nothing else.

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

4 hours, but i wanted one guy to win, and the other guy just kept winning and winning.

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

most "cruiserweights". it's hard to get an angle to start up/finish when you do it american style.

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

Shadow Maxx, after having gotten through with Zombie.

(two guys i always launch to the top when starting a creation fed. they always have an extended, bitter rivalry that results in everything going ape-shit. i only brought an end to the feud once and it turned out to be a mistake, as there wasn't anyone who proved more of a threat to Maxx than Zombie.)

he kept the title for about three years before i got bored with it.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

Shadow Maxx and Zombie. they don't talk much to each other, but they don't need to. simple "you've got the title, gimme" type stuff.

Probably when Barry Horowitz defeated Shawn Michaels fair and square for a shot at Bret Hart's title

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

Barry Horowitz/Barry Darsow defeated Triple H/Shawn Michaels.

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?

None comes to mind

Disco Inferno/Arn Anderson defeating Chris Benoit/Bret Hart.  Disco and Arn were feuding so it was a shock

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?

Rob Van Dam.  I just don't like the guy even though he is from the greatest state in the Union Michigan!!

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)

Probably around two hours...don't remember.

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)

Again it was Barry Horowitz.  I am a big supporter of "The Winner" so I usually throw him into my fed and he usually does good.

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels both usually disappoint me.

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?

I have no idea.  I know Flair went 30 cards once with the title and undefeated so I will go with that.

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?

My best angle I think was when Paul Heyman invaded my WCW circuit.  It was a damn good angle...wish I still had it

My worst was probably my crowbar/Foley feud.  Wanted to try and make it intense and it ended up looking funny not intense.  It saw Crowbar invading Mick's house forcing him to come back as Mankind but it just sucked.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud

My best feud would probably be Jericho/Tazz.  Jericho brought in probably ten guys from Tazz's past.  Sabu/Tanaka/Awesome to name a few.

My worse would be the blow the above Foley/Crowbar feud.  Just didn't work.

Well, I book my circuit as I would if I ran a real promotion, so I try to avoid the bad.  Honestly, I don't think my circuit has had any real crap as of yet.
91Posted on 08/10/04 at 14:23:28

But that doesn't mean it's been 100% brilliant. OK, you may have avoided the blatant "Wrestlecrap" (which I don't) but surely you can look back and think of something that in retrospect didn't go as well as you'd have liked.
AnubisPosted on 08/10/04 at 19:49:03

Honestly, I can't think of anything.  The closest thing I can think of is Mary Jane upsetting a ton of better people (push 50+) despite being a puny girl with a low work rate and a 30 push.  That wasn't an angle, though, so I didn't count that.  (It was just several matches, no particular angle.)

Other than that, my angles are planned to be very long and drawn-out, so in the three years of my circuit, I've only really had about five full angles total.

On that note, it's likely that the circuit just hasn't run long enough to get any real crap.  Besides, as the promoter and all, I'm not exactly objective about what's crap or not.  There haven't been any complaints or criticism, though, so I'm guessing things have gone fairly well.  If you think there's anything that isn't, go read the cards and let me know.
CkzippyPosted on 08/10/04 at 22:23:28

Back in the day, I used to create superhuman wrestlers and then let them run rampant on my circuits.  This was in the early days before I really started messing around with booking and angles.  One of my wrestlers, The Venice Connection, was something like 121-17-0 and his entire moveset consisted of those "ZZZ Demon" moves (which I had no idea how they got into my database).  I thought I was the man because I had created this unstoppable wrestler.

Thank goodness I've since seen the light and gotten away from making guys like that.

Oh the cards are all well and good, I was thinking of stuff that maybe you regretted doing (or happening) with hindsight. The example you gave was the sort of thing.
AnubisPosted on 08/10/04 at 23:56:24

Ah, okay, I understand.  Then yeah, Mary Jane beating the likes of Masato Tanaka and others was the worst.

Unfortunately, I had no control, as I don't book my circuit.  It was crazy.  Her finisher if is the Bong Hit, which is a double underhook faceslam.

I wonder if there's a "Triple H Flag" that signals a person with the same finisher should win a ton of matches? :P

First time poster, here

1. What was the sickest bump you have ever seen in TNM since you have begun to use it?
I usually don't pay much attention during the play-by-play. However, via the Interview Generator I've had Degeneration X dismantle a steel cage and drop the segments one-by-one on Mankind; Matt Hardy throw Nova off a wrecking ball; and Willow the Whisp hang Joey Matthews from a ceiling fan.

2. What was the biggest singles upset? (non-title)

3. What was the biggest tag upset? (non-title)

Don't remember these two

4. Has anyone ever "gotten over" in any of your circuits, and you never expected them to?
Judging by the "Who's Hot" list Gran Naniwa has to top the list. Steven Richards gets special mention for making the list before Raven did.

5. Have you ever had a **** match that you felt should have gotten *****?
I've had a few go the other way. TNM7 doesn't seem to like spofests.

6. Have you ever gotten a ***** match that you felt should have been less (considering everyone grades matches differently)
Don't really worry about these things

7. What was the biggest singles title upset?
New Jack def Keiji Muto to unify his NWCW Hardcore Title with Muto's PWM World Title.

8. What was the biggest tag title upset?
Don't remember any big ones.

9. Is there anyone you don't push simply because you don't like them?
Often I wind up marking out for one member of a tag team while the other is just there. I usually wind up depushing the "there" guy (Johnny Kashmere and Christian York, more often than not) while his partner (Trent Acid and Joey Matthews, respectively) gets pushed to the moon.

10. What was the longest match you have ever had in TNM (not including the ones that somehow don't finish)
Raven and Terry Funk going an hour and 45 minutes is the longest I remember.

11. Who was your most surprising champion (meaning if you ever had a champion who was not expected to be a good champion, and turned out to be one of your better champions in the history of your circuit)
Two Time PWM World Openweight Champion, Gran Naniwa

12. Who has dissappointed you the most within your circuit?
It's hard to say, given how many times I hit reset, but in one fed Billy Kidman and Matt Hardy, who I had pushed to the moon due to loyalty and overness, could not win a match to save their lives!

13. Two questions in one: What is your longest title reigns and unbeaten streaks?
Both have to go to RVD's PWM Title run (just shy of six months)

14. Two questions in one: What is/was your best/worst angle?
Best: Mankind is brought to PWM by Bobby Heenan (and a mysterious benefactor) to fight for the International Title. Problem is Mankind is in a cage, being attended to by two animal handlers. Commissioner Christopher Wong (original character) has to be bribed to let Mankind face Hayabusa. Mankind loses and tweaks his knee in the process. While Mankind is healing, Spanky runs across the cage. Spanky starts to feel sorry for Mankind, bringing him magazines, and eventually helping him run away from Heenan and the animal handlers. This all makes Spanky's tag team partner, Red, somewhat uncomfortable. Spanky and Red beat Heenan's cronies, Matt Hardy and Paul London, at the PPV and Spanky reveals that he has given Mankind a "makeover." Enter Dude Love. Heenan hires outside help in the form of The Rock, who beats the Dude at the next PPV in a gimmick match where both competitors had to lock the other guy in Mankind's old cage. Rock and Sock then beat Spanky and Red at the next PPV. The feud had legs, unfortunately I his one of my famous resets at the three month mark.

Worst: The Do Fixer (Magnum Tokyo/Genki Horiguchi/Ryo Saito/Darkness Dragon/Susumu Yokosuka) vs Bad Street Boys (Shannon Moore/Shane Helms/Christian York/Joey Matthews and later Jeff Hardy) feud was not bad booking, per se, but was dragged down by the most ridiculous Tag Title lineage ever! In order the champs were York/Matthews, Moore/Matthews, Moore/Hardy, Chuck Liddell/Hardy after Jeff realized the absurdity of the situation and joined Christopher Daniels's Prophecy! Basically York, Matthews and Moore all left one right after the other, each leaving one half of the tag team champions in the lurch.

15. Finally: What is/was your best/worst feud
Best: Hayabusa vs Jushin Liger. The only feud I consistently work in no matter how many times I reset, and always run mostly the same. It starts with an eight man elimination tournament for the World Title, in which these two invariably meet in the first round. The loser (let's say Hayabusa) goes heel and attacks the winner (Liger.) They feud until the PPV when they have a Mask vs Mask match (Again, we'll say Hayabusa lost, although I've run this feud so many times both have won and lost multiple times.) Hayabusa leaves, letting his hair cover his face. On TV Eiji Eizaki attacks Liger, eventually revealing that he is Hayabusa. They have a ladder match at the second PPV with Hayabusa's mask hanging. If Eizaki wins he can put the mask back on and be Hayabusa again. Let's say he does. The third PPV has a Hell in a Cell match between Liger and Hayabusa.

Worst: D-Von Dudley vs Big Daddy Dudley (played by Terry Gordy) for the Hardcore Title, with Bubba, Spike, and Big Dick doing their damnedest to stay neutral.
