How Do You Determine Your First Champions?

I would like to know how you would determine your champions in your circuits? Especially your main title belt.

Here is what I done a few years ago in several circuits.

I set up two 10 man royal rumble style pinfall only battle royals (all heels in one and all faces in the other)

The winners of each rumble would take each other on for the vacant title the following week in a best two of three falls or death match.

The last man eliminated from each rumble also fought on the next card to determine the Number 1 contender. Then whoever wins that would be guaranteed the first title shot against the champion. Well that's something I done several years ago and I seem to like the formula alot.

Please tell me how you determine your champions

Lots of different ways. Single elimination tournaments. Battle Royales. Random decisions.

My personal favorite....the Round Robin tournament. Usually what I've done in a lot of circuits is have four, four man round robins over the course of the first three weeks. The fourth week, two of the winners team up to face the other two in a tag match. This works best along heel/face lines, but you can wing it if things don't work out so nice. Then, in the fifth week of the circuit, usually the first supercard, I have the four round robin winners face each other with the winner becoming the first Heavyweight champion.

I usually do a battle royal, and it's usually one of the same few guys winning (on the rare occassions I start a new circuit) - Michaels, Benoit or Olivers secret fantasy.

I think you should first hold Qualifying Matches to see which wrestlers would get into the tournament then hold a one-night tournament to determine your first champion or champions. That works in my circuits with the rule-set that I have.

I usually do a battle royal personally with everyone involved.  I look at it as having all your wrestling seen by the "audience" and you can always have a huge upset.

Yeah, like the time I ended up with Funaki as my world champion :D
