TNM freezes when opening Weight Class Wizard

Memphis_VicePosted on 06/04/07 at 20:20:43

Under XP (and 2k), TNM freezes when I start the Weight Class Wizard.  Notably, the cursor is stuck somewhere mid-screen. I have to end the cmd session and re-open TNM in a new window. My instinct tells me that cmd is waiting for WCW to close before returning control to TNM - but this is not the behavior I want. Anyone else seen this problem and know a workaround?

Does WCW still function? And when you close it, does TNM start functioning again?

Yeah, TNM waits for WCW to close before it can continue. There's no workarounds that I know of.

I've used TNM with WCW on 98 (i think) and ME, and TNM will run fine with WCW open. It's only in XP (and, I assume, Vista) that TMN locks up while the plugin's open. The only workaround I've found is to export all the ratings you need (title contenders and rankings) and then close out WCW. The exports should open in a Notepad file with the info you'll need.

Yep.

[sup]start /? [/sup]  has this to say:

[sup]When executing an application that is a 32-bit GUI application, CMD.EXE
does not wait for the application to terminate before returning to
the command prompt.  This new behavior does NOT occur if executing
   within a command script.[/sup]

I'm going to play around with this a bit and see if I can find and post a workaround...not that hitting 'X', 'End Now', and relaunching TNM is THAT big of a hassle.

Y'know, it should be possible to run the Weight Class Wizard from the command line, as long as you pass the right arguments to it. I know it says "plugins can't be run on their own" if you simply try to run the WCW via double-click in explorer. So I've been playing around with passing arguments to the WCW via the command line. I haven't hit the jackpot yet, but I did get an amusing message when I tried:

[sup] tnmwcwzb.exe c:\tnm7se\uswa c:\tnm7se\plugins\tnmwcwzb
[/sup]
"Changing file names won't give you a longer trial period. Shame on you!"  :D

then I tried
[sup]tnmwcwzb.exe c:\tnm7se\uswa c:\tnm7se\plugins\tnmwcwzb\data
[/sup]
and got a blank WCW window with all the elements in place, but no data.

Then I *really* blew my mind with the next one! I tried:

[sup]tnmwcwzb.exe c:\tnm7se\uswa c:\tnm7se\uswa[/sup]
and got a dataless Circuit History Plugin window. I don't even have that plugin installed!

???

So I'm barking up the right tree, but I haven't found the acorn just yet.
