Umbrella Feds

Ok, this is just up for discussion. I remember when Umbrella feds were all the rage. Lately though, it seems impossible to find one with enough interest to really get things going. My question is why? The idea of having a limited roster, trading away superstars and the rest just seems like a great idea. It seems the rest these day have 3-4 steady feds, and that's about it.

Sorry, just needed to vent, and maybe spark a few ideas for some people.

I'm guessing you're refering to stuff like TNM-MPs, or more like the NWA?  Though I suppose the answer is the same for both...

Part of it was the fad aspect: it was new and different and that made it cool.

Also, the TNM community is not as large or as active as it once was.

But the biggest reason IMO is that certain flaws in the system came up.  The biggest was time.  To keep things going smoothly, you needed to run every X weeks of real time (usually 1 week) was one week of NWA/MP/universe time.  Inevitably, people would reach a point where they couldn't keep up that regular schedule.

Also, a lesser big point (i.e. the biggest problem besides the main problem of time) was originality.  If you get 10 people who want to form an MP, you're gonna have trouble finding people who'll run lucha or puro circuits.  And your indy circuits end up looking alot alike.  I'm not saying people are mostly bland an unoriginal, but I'd say you've got alot more people who've seen WWE, some TNA, and little else.

I agree with Pulsar, Umbrella feds are great, the only problem is that they seem to fade away pretty quick. I don't think it's necessary to use more than a couple of hours each week to keep up your fed, write cards and respond to others, and that is a couple of hours I gladly will use. But then again, I'm not the most busy person in the world.
