Special Move Wizard usage thread!

LillaThrillaPosted on 05/01/04 at 19:00:51

Maybe everyone knows Taz called all his suplexes Tazplexes instead.  But some people may not know some of the named non-finisher moves other wrestlers have.  This is a thread dedicated to posting move names for wrestlers in TNM7 so they can be added to everyone's SMW databases.  Please try to avoid repeating stuff ;)

Always with the negative vibes, Moriarty, always with the negative vibes!

TiLo was asking about questions on using the program. This thread is for actually moves people might not know.

Like what are all those named moves John Cena uses? I want to add them to SMW but I don't know them. :)
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/01/04 at 19:24:52

Cena:

fistdrop = Five-knuckle shuffle

Sting:

avalanche = Stinger Splash

Steiners:

*Clothes = Steiner
*clothes = Steiner

Chris Jericho:

Lionsault = Asai moonsault

Any Japanese/Mexican wrestler:

quebradora = spinning backbreaker

Just getting started ;)

BTW, what do people think of the HTML-based helpfile?
Rick GarrardPosted on 05/01/04 at 19:42:13

Oliver... isn't Stinger Splash more of a leaping/flying squash into the corner where as the avalanche is more of a running/ground based squash into the corner?

Bill DeMott and King Kong Bundy do the avalanche.
Sting, Cena, and Billy Gunn do the Stinger Splash.
I think while they may be similar... one requires the ability to jump, and the other doesn't.

:)
Oliver CoppPosted on 05/01/04 at 19:45:55

That is true. I was speaking from experience seeing how many people whose TNM I've had for repair put in the avalanche as Sting's cross-corner move :)

Thats not what the help file says Copp :) BTW, the help file is nice and simple and tells everything thats needed to know. So it does its job and doesn't get in the way.

What are Jericho's Flashback and Breakdown?
Rick GarrardPosted on 05/07/04 at 02:44:19

I've never heard of EITHER one being called as a move for Jericho. Perhaps your internet idol Scott Keith is making up move names again, Josh.

The Post-Googling Edit:
After further review and some googling.. the only reference I can find to Jericho's "Breakdown" is his forward Russian legsweep which I've NEVER heard called as the Breakdown during his entire WWE career.

And in the first three pages of search for "Jericho Flashback" there was one reference from Scott Keith and two from RajahWWF, with NEITHER explaining which move is the "Flashback" and it's another that WWE announcers NEVER call in his matches, therefore, it doesn't exist in WWE World.
DarkAndEvilBastardPosted on 05/07/04 at 03:11:54

Jericho's Flashback is/was the Sleeperhold Neckbreaker Drop thing.
Critic of the DawnPosted on 05/07/04 at 03:58:00

When Jericho became the Undisputed Champion, WWE suddenly noticed that he didn't really have a credible finisher.  Everyone always escaped from the Walls of Jericho, and the Lionsault, while pretty, didn't look very high impact.  Plus people routinely kicked out of it.  So for about 6 months in 2001-2002, they experimented with giving him some other finishing moves.  First they tried the Breakdown, which was the Forward Russian Legsweep thingy.  Jericho won a few high-profile matches by doing this onto chairs, but they didn't really build the move up much so it didn't really get over.

The Flashback followed, but by the time Jericho started using it, he had lost the Undisputed Title to Tripsy and was out of the spotlight, so it (unsurprisingly) didn't get over either.  Thus, Jericho's pretty much stuck with the Lionsault and Walls as his finishers, but he breaks out the Breakdown and the Flashback in a lot of his matches as well.  They're just not major moves.

Besides, he's Chris Jericho and he can do whatever he wants to.

But on topic, anyone have a full list of all the different custom named moves that Teddy Hart does and what they are.

I know he has the Hart Attack, the Open Hart Surgery, and I think like 20 other moves I can't remember off hand.

See Rick, I'm not crazy!  Its not just SK-induced delusions!

Except WWE announcers tend to suck and do call moves horribly.
Rick GarrardPosted on 05/07/04 at 07:14:03

All except Josh Matthews on Velocity who has overcome the handicap of working with Ernie Miller to now working with Bill DeMott.  Josh actually noticably tries very hard to call the matches and presents background on even the Velocity jobbers, whereas Al Snow names all HEaT jobbers with the last name of Babaganoosh which is also a running joke that he stole from MXC on Spike.
Critic of the DawnPosted on 05/07/04 at 07:22:53

And Tazz.  Eric (hearts) Tazz.  In a masculine, non-gay sort of way.  It never fails to impress me that he actually calls a spinning leg lariat a spinning leg lariat rather than a modified slam or a slobberknocker or A HARD SHOT or PUPPIES!

I would buy any WWE pay-per-view if they guaranteed that Michael Cole would have to face Tazz in a 10 minute survival match.  Hmm...  And maybe Tazz could injure Cole's vocal cords so he wouldn't be able to do play by play anymore...

Or maybe I'm just jaded from watching too many ROH vids lately with the utterly amazing commentating performance by CM Punk.
