Anyone had this problem when trying to open TNM7?
JustinPossiblePosted on 03/23/10 at 18:58:20

I got this error too. Can anyone come up with a solution?
King_Of_Old_SchoolPosted on 03/24/10 at 21:26:07

Delete the file TNM.REG in the DATA folder, start up the program and re-enter your registration code. Should be fine then.
JustinPossiblePosted on 03/25/10 at 02:19:11

Thank you my liege :)
wicked_rexPosted on 03/25/10 at 04:43:35

I've just  re-loaded it (and unzipped it), and using the command prompt, I got the same error message. But, when I checked the Data File, I don't see any TNM.REG. So, I don't have the option of deleting it and starting over.

What else is there to do?

Had you put your registration info into that copy of TNM?  Any registered copy of TNM should have TNM.REG file.  If you did but the file isn't there it would seem your TNM is really got issues.  Might need to try emailing Oliver.
wicked_rexPosted on 03/28/10 at 14:53:34

No, I haven't been able to put in my registration information, because it won't allow me to get to that point. I get the error message when I try to set up TNM.

I've tried discussing it with Oliver before, and I've sent him an email about two months ago, and I have yet to hear anything back from him. So, I don't know if he's just SUPER busy, or if he doesn't know how to fix the problem...

When you start the program or when you try to install it?

When I try to install it.

I haven't seen the "main screen" on the TNM program in like 8 months lol
LillaThrillaPosted on 04/03/10 at 22:52:34

Since Error 75 is normally an issue with TNM.REG i.e. with the Registration Codes I wonder if there is an issue with your registration codes?
King MunshunPosted on 04/03/10 at 23:34:07

Do you have any other TNM installs on your PC? Are you trying to install TNM7SE over a TNM7FE install, or is it a completely fresh install?

What OS are you running? Windows 7? Vista? XP?

I haven't gotten to the point where it asks for my registration codes. It won't let me get that far.

I've deleted all the other "attempts" at installing TNM, so I would think it's a totally fresh install.

And, I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
King MunshunPosted on 04/04/10 at 10:21:05

Win7 is probably the problem. Has that even been tested for TNM7 yet? Also, isn't it capable of emulating WinXP internally?

There was a whole new batch of problems when trying to run TNM on Vista initially, and as I understand it, most of those were never resolved. Who knows what kind of issues would crop up with Win7.
pszPosted on 04/04/10 at 14:56:58

Vista is Windows 6.0
Win7 is Windows 6.1

There SHOULDN'T be any issues (I run 64bit, so I have to DOSBox everything ;->)

As for 7's XP mode: It's Virtual PC running a custom version of XP. When you install apps in the Virtual PC (or even just add them to the Virtual PC's start menu), they appear on your Win 7 start menu, and you can run them like a normal app (They load into a "micro" Virtual PC, instead of loading the entire app + OS)

I must be incredibly stupid, because I understood ZERO of that

...

But, I know that I can't download Virtual XP onto this version of Win7, because it's not "Professional". So, my goal is to buy Win7 Pro and download Virtual XP, and hopefully be done with the problems. But, that will have to wait until Monday...
pszPosted on 04/04/10 at 21:00:41

Basically:

It's Virtual PC (yes, the same one that's been free for years) with a special copy of XP installed.

If you install an app in that Virtual PC, it adds it to your Start Menu in Windows 7.

When you run that app from your Windows 7 Start Menu, it loads up a "small" version of Virtual PC to run JUST THAT APP.

If the program has problems running in normal Virtual PC, then it still won't run in Windows 7's "XP Mode"
wicked_rexPosted on 04/05/10 at 13:41:39

I just tried to download Virtual PC, and during the process it said that I didn't have a compatible version of Windows 7, but it installed anyway. However, when I tried to open it, it froze and I had to restart my computer. I think my best bet is to put the other version of Windows 7 on here - hopefully today - and see if I can get a different result.
pszPosted on 04/05/10 at 18:32:29

Then you got the wrong version of Virtual PC ;->

There's one version that provides XP Mode for certain versions of Windows 7, and then there's the one for every version of Windows from XP on up (That one doesn't come with an OS: You have to install XP, DOS, Linux, whatever yourself)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/support/virtual-pc-2007.aspx

It should be noted, though, that Virtual PC actually ran TNM worse for me than DOSBox did.
pszPosted on 04/05/10 at 18:47:13

Another option which I've not tried for TNM (But I get slightly better results for Linux and OS/2) is http://www.virtualbox.org/

(Of course, the benifit of running in VirtualBox or VirtualPC is that you should be able to use the Windows-based plugins as well)
wicked_rexPosted on 04/05/10 at 19:57:05

OK, I've downloaded Virtual Box. Now, do I download TNM directly to that?
pszPosted on 04/05/10 at 20:13:39

You install Windows (or DOS) to that. Then (from Windows or DOS), you install TNM
wicked_rexPosted on 04/05/10 at 20:14:50

Do you have an AIM or MSN account? lol
wicked_rexPosted on 04/05/10 at 21:02:06

... well, Virtual Box works great until the part where I need the Windows XP CD to load. Which, I don't have. :)

So... looks like I'll be going to Best Buy later. :)
Larry MondelloPosted on 04/11/10 at 07:54:06

I used VirtualBox and installed Win 98 on it.  I still get error 75 when I try to install TNM.
