What happened here?

OK, this might be one of the many new possible finishes/occurances during a match, but I'm not sure exactly what happened. I had a tag team match going, two of the participants being Ken Shamrock and Ted DiBiase. In the first minute of the match DiBiase got Shamrock in the corner and charged in. Shamrock lifted his leg to block, and it said that DiBiase collapsed. The ref checked on DiBiase and then ruled the match a no contest. All that, plus a full nelson, in just 55 seconds.

Now, I restarted the match since that wasn't the sort of finish I was hoping for in that match, but what exactly was the deal? Would DiBiase have been injured by that or what?

That sounds odd.  It would have been cool to start an angle though.  Like I had Ted DiBiase vs Vader in one of my first matches, and this is how it ended:

Ted DiBiase hits Vader with a clothesline.
Vader falls out of the ring.
Ted DiBiase goes for a baseball slide, but Vader moves out of the way.
A portion of the crowd is cheering Vader.
Vader whips Ted DiBiase into the guardrail.
Ted DiBiase is out cold.
Earl Hebner counts:  1.
Vader gets back into the ring.
Earl Hebner counts:  2
Earl Hebner counts:  3
Earl Hebner counts:  4
Earl Hebner counts:  5
Earl Hebner counts:  6
Earl Hebner counts:  7
Earl Hebner counts:  8
Earl Hebner counts:  9
Earl Hebner counts: 10
Ted DiBiase is counted out.
A portion of the crowd is cheering Vader.

The winner is Vader. Time of match: 0:01:30

That was it!  So I made a story up that DiBiase and Vader were a team and didn't want to fight each other.  Something along the lines of what DiBiase had with Andre in the 80's....  Worked out good.

I believe that would have been an injury had you not continued the match.  I haven't had it happen to me yet but I am pretty sure that is what would have happened.

You witnessed an in-match-injury taking place.

I like, I like. Whilst I always select who I want to win for everything in advance (without booking - it'd take forever to book everything), I'm all up for being made to change my plans when someone gets injured, it's part and parcel of wrestling. What I didn't want to do, however, was guess that there'd been an injury, end the match and find there wasn't an injury and I'd just ended a big grudge match in 55 seconds for no reason. But yeah, cheers for that.

When something really smells fishy, you can count on an injury having taken place.

Not in all cases will the match end immediately. Sometimes the injured wrestler will gut it out and do as told. Sometimes the match will be cut short but end as you wanted it to end. Sometimes they'll go to a finish immediately. And sometimes the match will be called off because the wrestler simply can't or won't continue.

So because he 'Restarted' the match did the Injury still occur?

I'm probably the one to ask there - no, he wasn't. ;)

Thank god too, I'd only just paired him up again with Barry Windham, I didn't want to have to end that already and have them doing nothing again (they make a good team too).
