Need some quick input :-)

Oliver CoppPosted on 08/14/03 at 15:25:16

I've been working on the Visualizer all day and am currently changing TNM to allow for having images of tag teams instead of displaying individual images.

Now... while I was at it, I changed ring intros a bit but that has consequences in other places.

Where before it said:

Introducing First
At a total combined weight of 486 pounds
Strike Force

it now says:

Introducing First
At a total combined weight of 486 pounds
Rick Martel... Tito Santana... STRIKE FORCE

I think this sounds a bit better, personally speaking of course.

Now, there's a side effect to this. Although I personally find the side effect nice and pleasant, some others might not which is why I'm running it by you, asking your opinions.

The results change like this:

Match for the vacant Test Tag Titles:
Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana) defeated Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar when T. Santana pinned B. Lesnar with the Flying Forearm in 0:12:22.
Rating: **** 1/4
(Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana) won the Test Tag Titles.)

The same changes (naming the members of the team) will also be made to the champions list and the ratings transparently (i.e., you won't end up with different records for Strike Force with and without the details).

My question is: do you mind having your tag team's members named in the match results etc?

Thanks!

sounds good to me
SauronPosted on 08/14/03 at 18:20:55

Looks good. I love the new title feature
DominusPosted on 08/14/03 at 21:14:58

I like it!  It's just like how they announce in real life.  Announcers always say who the wrestlers are then the team name.  Never just the teamname.
JoshEnglemanPosted on 08/14/03 at 21:30:05

I definately think it is a good idea. Especially if someone is running a federation where the tag team name is also the stable name ala Demolition. It's easier to read that Ax and Smash are the champs, then try to figure it out by looking through results.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/14/03 at 22:28:55

I just posted a first code update on the Visualizer mailing list:

tnm7visualizer-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Tag team and stable images now have been implemented, title matches are shown visually as are titles that aren't on the line and much more... I'd check it out :)
stevetrashPosted on 08/14/03 at 22:33:11

I like it!

Now my complaints (minor!): The title change line... sounds repetetive, too many parentheses or something!

Also, when introducing the team, maybe throw an "and" between the members' names.
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/14/03 at 22:50:39

The "and" wouldn't be a problem, although I purposely left it out to mimic Howard Finkle's way of announcing teams :)

It's still ringing in my ears as if it had been yesterday... "At a total combined weight of 468 pounds... Rick Martel... Tito Santana... STRIKE FORCE" :)

Oh dear, looks like I really am dated ;)

So you'd rather not have the parantheses in the title change lines? The thing is, we either have to go back to the old setup or we'll have to live with the parantheses in title changes ;). There's no middle ground unfortunately. Although I may have an idea how to fool the program... hmmm...
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/14/03 at 22:56:14

Yup, the trick is working :)

This is how it reads now:

Triangle Match:
The Dudley Boys (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley) defeated Team Angle (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) and Strike Force (Rick Martel/Tito Santana):
x D-Von beat C. Haas via the Inverted DDT in 0:03:23
x Bubba beat T. Santana after the Dudley Death Drop in 0:28:34
Rating: *** 1/4
(The Dudley Boys won the Test Tag Titles.)

stevetrashPosted on 08/14/03 at 23:02:34

yeah, I think that reads better!

great job Oliver!!
DominusPosted on 08/15/03 at 02:26:54

Yeah I like it like that too.
91Posted on 08/15/03 at 03:11:58

Hey, Andrew Martin has sanctioned himself some tag belts I see. But onto the point - yeah, that looks kinda cool actually and I'd go without the "and" myself, it has a nice ring to it.
doors11Posted on 08/15/03 at 05:20:47

I agree with the rest, I like the new look.

TNM7SE is just getting beter and better and such a steal for all the fun i'm receiving in return.

Thanks Oliver

Looks like we need another option... "use and in ring intros" ;-)
Oliver CoppPosted on 08/15/03 at 09:22:40

I just made a few changes to ring intros again and this is what it gives you:

This contest is a 20-man match scheduled for one fall.

Introducing first...
At a total combined weight of 2283 pounds...

Weighing in at a total combined weight of 480 pounds... Rick Martel... Tito Santana... STRIKE FORCE
From Dudleyville... weighing in at a total combined weight of 515 pounds... Bubba Ray Dudley... D-Von Dudley... THE DUDLEY BOYS
Their partners... weighing in at a total combined weight of 500 pounds... New Jack... Mustafa... THE GANGSTAS
From Los Angeles, California... weighing in at 258 pounds... Misterioso
From Fujidera, Japan... weighing in at 132 pounds... Momoe Nakanishi
From Kawaguchi, Japan... weighing in at 172 pounds... Nanae Takahashi
From Jeffersonville, IN... weighing in at 226 pounds... Nick Dinsmore

Their opponents...
At a total combined weight of 2600 pounds...
Weighing in at a total combined weight of 562 pounds... Ax... Smash... DEMOLITION
Their partners... weighing in at a total combined weight of 482 pounds... Charlie Haas... Shelton Benjamin... TEAM ANGLE
From Philadelphia, PA... weighing in at a total combined weight of 481 pounds... Pitbull 1... Pitbull 2... THE PITBULLS
From Boston, MA... weighing in at 350 pounds... Prince Albert
From Yamaguchi, Japan... weighing in at 251 pounds... Riki Chosyu
From Pittsburgh, PA... weighing in at 240 pounds... Rob Conway
From Boston, MA... weighing in at 234 pounds... Saturn

Now, obviously the first "At a total combined weight" statement is now superfluous and will be gotten rid of.

Is that too detailed now?
ConceptPosted on 08/15/03 at 14:10:04

I guess it's realistic! It sounds like they're coming divided to the ring. Imagine a following match: Triple H, Steve Austin & The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior & Randy Savage. They won't come to the ring together. First you will see Triple H with his theme, then Austin with his theme etc.
DominusPosted on 08/16/03 at 09:19:45

Speaking of that,  It would be cool if you could have an option where wrestlers attack each other while they come down to ring!  Just like the Montreal Incident, where they brawled before they got in the ring!  That would be cool to have, speciailly for feuds!  They when they finally getinto the ring and the bell is called there health is down a bit.  But with the option of turning it on and off though.  Some people might not like that.
EDS_TeiohPosted on 08/28/03 at 20:30:25

Ok, here's my only question about this:

Since it announces both team members, and then the team name, what happens to tag teams like:

Edge & Christian
Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue

I have them set as tag teams so that I can assign them a tag finisher, etc, but now won't TNM announce tham as:

total combined weight of 465 pounds...
Toshiaki Kawada...Akira Taue....TOSHIAKI KAWADA & AKIRA TAUE

My suggestion?  Simply don't give them a name.  If you create a tag team, the only required things are the 2 wrestlers.  Tag Team Name is optional.

How's this for you?

Introducing first...
At a total combined weight of 509 pounds...
From Tizhigi, Japan... weighing in at 245 pounds...
"Dangerous K" Toshiaki Kawada
His partner...
From Chichibu City, Saitama... weighing in at 264 pounds...
Akira Taue

Hmm I don't like it that much.  I like this one better:

At a total combined weight of 486 pounds
Rick Martel... Tito Santana... STRIKE FORCE
LillaThrillaPosted on 09/03/03 at 21:21:14

I think that the seperate intros + combined weight only occurs if they aren't a member of a tag team.  At least that's how it seems to be when I ran some matches the other day.  The Fantasics (Mike Awesome & Fantastik) got introduced as a team.  But the unnamed team of of Keiji Muto and Kendo Ka Shin got the combined weight + seperate intros thing.

At least thats how I understand it to be...
DominusPosted on 09/06/03 at 11:34:29

Ok that's better if they aren't a Tag Team.  Because usually it would be a rare thing for them to tag.  Like say Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior together, so instead of announcing them together, it announces them seperate...  I like that idea.
