FCA Cubed Match Editor Error

mwmward5Posted on 03/31/07 at 04:22:33

I am brand new to the world of TNM.  Also, I downloaded the Sweetser FCA Cubed Match Editor plugin.  I have attempted to get this thing to work on at least 10 different times.

Everytime I get the error reading
"File not found in line 0 of module FCAEDIT at address 0577:3627.  hit any key to return to system."

Please help!  I have no knowledge base for how to make this work.  If anyone can take a moment to help, it would be greatly appeciated.

Use of my private E-mail is acceptable as well.

Thanks!

Mike Sweetser is a great guy, but his FCA Cubed Match plugin thing was always a bit wobbly.

When do you get the error? At start-up? or.. somewhere else?

What OS are you using? Do you run TNM through a Dos window, or straight from it's icon?

Thanks for your response . . .

Basically, I run through Windows XP and the problem exists when after I extract the files to the NewPlugs folder, TNM doesn't recognize the new plugins as the ReadMe file indicates it should.

Then, when I attempt to run FCAEdit.EXP from inside TNM, I get the error.  Also of note, just once out of frustration I clicked the FCA Cubed Match Editor icon from outside of TNM in the NewPlugs folder and it said I needed to run the FCAEdit.EXP file.

I see so many people talk about great the program is and how it opens up so much within the game, I hope the information is helpful.  I feel like I'm missing one simple thing, yet on the other hand I do not know what else I can do.

Love your quote by the way, ATCQ are one of the most underrated groups of all time!

I've always had terrible luck with FCA Cubed. It always used to install cleanly then crash when importing and/or running matches. Nowadays it even crashes when I try to install it.  In roughly 20-30 tries scheduling FCA matches, it has worked twice - once on a card by itself in a test circuit, and once for a meaningless Bra & Panties Mud Match or somesuch.  Usually SUBST OUT OF BOUNDS is the error. Lately I don't even bother with it. I'd offer to rewrite it in FreeBasic but I heard Mr. Sweetser lost his source code in a HD crash.  The truly messed up part is that these problems span 2 computers - one running Win98SE and one running 2k Pro. I'm at a loss for how to move forward. I just avoid the plugin for now, until I can think of some kind of solution.

Which reminds me, I found a workaround for importing FCA matches when the Import Dialog crashes (this is on the 2k box, so it isn't the known FCAFileBox issue) . My workaround successfully imported the matches, bringing me back to my old situation where the match itself crashes.  :P Will post this data when I get my 2k box online.
