Jobbers :-)

Might not be important to most people out there but they *really* help when simulating old-style feds
rptDX316Posted on 07/11/03 at 19:18:31

Hope you don't mind me asking, but how will that work?

Will there be a Superstar Vs. Jobber match option, where you pick 1 guy to fight a randomly named jobber?  Or will you simply have a pre-signed collection of guys with pushes of 0 for every fed?
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/11/03 at 19:49:32

It's more for the "classic" named jobbers. They aren't given a finisher and when the program sees somebody who doesn't have a finisher, he will be unable to win by pinfall or submission.

Long live Iron Mike Sharp, Frankie Lancaster, and Buck Quartermine.

.....What would happen if a jobber vs. jobber match were to be booked?.....
Oliver CoppPosted on 07/12/03 at 15:51:48

In that case, the "not going to win" clause is dropped as obviously somebody WILL have to win :)

Or all those matches can go to the always wonderful 10 hour limit when TNM gives up.   ;)
H8-SuperstarPosted on 07/12/03 at 21:30:46

make another round of Rip Rogers vs Brady Boone matches that was shown on Saturday night's back then.

Ahhh... Mike Sharp... The "Whiley Veteran" of the 80's...

I couldn't help but cringe (and knew that the rumours that Bret Hart was leaving the WWF to WCW were true) when Jim Ross called Hart a Whiley Veteran on Raw...

Jim Brunzel, Mike Sharp, Repo Man (or almost any post Demolision gimmick he had), Jim Powers, Lanny Poffo (in the Leaping days)... Back when people cheered the jobbers... For no real reason...

Classic Jobbers to use for older real feds (1980's to Early 1990's)

WWF

"Iron" Mike Sharpe - Heel
Mario Mancinni - Face
RT Reynolds - Heel
Joe Mirto - Neutral
Jose Luis Rivera - Face
Dennis Stamp - Heel
George Wells - Face
Jim Powers - Face
Johnny Rodz - Neutral
Steve Lombardi - Heel (even though he's listed as a wrestler already in the database as the Brooklyn Brawler)
"The Duke of Dorchester" Pete Dougherty - Heel
Barry O - Heel

NWA-Early WCW

George South - Heel
Jim Powers - Mostly Face
Ranger Ross - Face
The Italian Stallion - Neutral
The Mulkey Brothers (Randy and Bill, I think) - Face
Denny Royal - Face
Rocky King - Mostly Face except for that stint with the Freebirds.
Lazer-Tron - Face
Randy Hogan - Neutral (yes he was a smaller blonde and bald version of Hulk)
The Gambler - Heel

World Class Championship Wrestling

George Weingroff - Face
Mike Bond - Neutral
Mike Reed - Neutral
Skip Young - Face
"Rock and Roll" Buck Zumhoffe - Face. He always carried that awful boom box. He wore it a few times after getting smashed with it.  He was a jobber in World Class, but a midcarder Lightweight Champion in the AWA who forver feuded with "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal (not the WCW/WWE Steven Regal)

UWF

Mike Boyette - Heel. He was the originator of the "streak" long before Goldberg had his winning streak. Each time he wrestled they would list his UWF record on the TV which got up to 0-99.

AWA

Jake "The Milkman" Milliman - Face. Maybe the most popular jobber there was in the midwest when the AWA was popular.
"Steve-O" Steve Olsonowski - Face (probably in the database already)

Why is it in every jobber thread I check, everyone forgets the great Frankie Williams? ;)

Come on, don't you remember the classic Piper's Pit when Hot Rod had Frankie Williams on and beat the living hell out of him? Before he did so, he uttered the classic line, "I have never lost here. You on the other hand have never beaten anyone."
That was great stuff. ;D
Yet_Another_MikePosted on 07/13/03 at 20:56:10

And from the eighties WWF don't forget the immortal Johnny K9.

Oliver, great idea! I have a jobber in my fantasy fed, but it'd be nice to be sure he can't win, regardless of how low his push may be or some silly fluke happening thanks to interference.

Can't wait to turn him into a jobber, and maybe give him a few jobber friends.
chi166Posted on 07/14/03 at 08:31:56

I knew I was going to miss a few  ;D
